☕💕 More than just a vintage tea room…

Behind the beautiful cakes, great coffee and delicious food is Tracy – a woman in recovery who understands the importance of connection, hope and community.

Alongside running this lovely space, Tracy facilitates a 12-step recovery group through the church, offers bereavement support, and is always happy to have a chat or signpost people towards the right support if they’re struggling.

Recovery thrives in safe, welcoming spaces, and this is exactly that. A place where everyone is welcome, compassion comes naturally, and no one has to feel alone.

1 year of Steps Within 💛

It’s hard to put into words what this year has meant. So much growth, so many ups and downs, and so many women fighting for a better life.

A beautiful evening for some of our ladies at a Candlelight Full Moon Women’s Circle 🌕✨

From manifestation painting to personalised tarot readings, it was a lovely reminder of the importance of community, healing and taking time to reconnect with ourselves 💫

Today some of our ladies took themselves off to The Wi******er Cathedral .

For many within the recovery community, it’s become a symbolic place of reflection, hope and gratitude — a reminder of how far recovery can take someone.

I love the bond these ladies have and the adventures they share .

STEPS WITHIN-OPENS - GOSPORT PRECINCT

Cllr Zoe Huggins BEM & I were invited to attend the official opening of the new support centre run jointly by Steps Within and Recovery Connections Hampshire right here in Gosport — and I’m glad we went.💞

These two organisations are doing extraordinary work. Together they provide supported accommodation, peer mentoring and confidence-building courses for people recovering from addiction and alcoholism — with a particular focus on vulnerable women.

The stats tell part of the story. Nationally, over 329,000 adults were in contact with drug and alcohol treatment services last year — the highest number since records began. And yet women make up only 32% of those in treatment, meaning so many are still falling through the gaps. Women in treatment are also more likely than men to be living with children, carrying huge additional pressure alongside their own recovery.

Sinead and her team have created something truly special — a safe, compassionate environment where women can rebuild their lives with dignity, confidence and hope. It was an honour to be at the opening on Thursday the 16th of May.
