The Old Vicarage

The Old Vicarage The Old Vicarage is a family run residential care home situated in the village of Allithwaite. We produce a quarterly newsletter detailing all our activities.

We specialise in care for the elderly and physically frail, including those with dementia. The Old Vicarage is a vibrant, friendly place with lots going on and
strong links with the local community. The wellbeing and dignity of our residents is hugely important to us and therefore our staff are recruited for their values of kindness, compassion and patience. Whilst most of our residents are with

us full time, when we have vacancies we are able to provide a respite service. We can also offer day care to local people.

This week, we will enjoy 'memory lane activities', and on Friday, we will fill The Old Vicarage with lots of singing as we celebrate some of Queen's greatest hits, including Bohemian Rhapsody, which should be fun! A salute to Freddie Mercury, who would have been 80 on 5th September.

Did you know that research has shown that at most care homes, activity programmes are either limited or inconsistent. At The Old Vicarage, activities play a vital role in enhancing the physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of residents. They are not just about filling time; they are essential for maintaining dignity, purpose, and quality of life.

Some of the activities this week include aspects of Reminiscence Therapy, e.g, exploring family history together with recalling the high street shops of yesteryear. Photos can prompt many recollections, and our Friday activity schedule may also bring back many fun memories from the days of Beatle Mania!

As you can see from the photos, everyone had a lovely time at Bardsea. The journey was also very much enjoyed. Alice noted 'Whilst on the journey there and back, the residents enjoyed taking in the countryside views, seeing the cattle in the fields and the farmers collecting the grass for the winter months'. 😎😁🍦
