Become involved in Thurrock Health Centre by becoming a member of the Patient Participation Group

What is a Patient Participation Group (PPG)?
The PPG is a group of patients who work with practice staff and meet at regular intervals to decide ways of making a positive contribution to the services and facilities offered by the practice to our patients. Wider participation in the Group is also sought by becoming a "virtual" member of the Group where opinions and suggestions are captured via email.

What is the purpose of the PPG?
To give patients and practice staff the opportunity to discuss topics of mutual interest
To provide the means for patients to make positive suggestions about the Practice and their own healthcare
To encourage health education activities within the Practice
Patients to provide support and information to other patients on a range of conditions such as diabetes, asthma, COPD and heart disease
To act as a representative group that can be called upon to influence the local provision of health and social care

Please watch this campaign video by the IGPM (Institute of General Practice Management) regarding ending the abuse of staff in GP practices.

In this video GP receptionists share the abuse they have experienced first hand.

All have been frontline key workers during the pandemic.

With the majority of GP Practice Staff (78%) facing threatening behaviour, racist or sexist abuse from patients, and 83% reporting having called the police for help, the Institute of General Practice Management (IGPM) launches a campaign to end all abuse towards general practice staff.
