Whilst we do our best to move on, unresolved wounds impact our sense of self and we inherently take this into our lives, our relationships and our workplaces. When we aren't conscious of our internal wounding we live from our 'survival self', projecting on other people and our external environments. This affects how we move in the world and hinders the quality of our personal and professional relationships. However, this wounded 'survival self' is not who you are. For some, Sports Day is full of nostalgia…for me, definitely closer to trauma 😅

Growing up, I went to an all girls school, which was pretty much living in the real version of Mean Girls. With the added popular and sporty girl cliques, sports day was something I dreaded for weeks.

So I wasn’t entirely excited when SLEEPGYM invited me to their 90’s inspired Sports Day event last week 🤦🏻‍♀️ In fact, I almost talked myself out of it…

Once nicknamed by a PE teacher as ‘Bambi’ for my lack of coordination…I didn’t have high hopes for my contribution to the day.

I never played team sports either, and in truth find the competitive element intimidating.

But at the start of this year, I set myself a challenge to show up in rooms where people are doing awesome things (fields included), step forward when opportunity presents and lean in, especially when I feel like leaning out!

And I am so glad I did…

What I experienced wasn’t a day of rejection, embarrassment or humiliation, but instead, camaraderie, fun, silliness, willingness and connection.

AND, triumph! With an unexpected win for the three-legged race with my new found pocket rocket Jessica O’Dwyer MSc Nutrition | Functional Medicine 🏆

Amazing things can happen when two short women are bound together, with mighty determination and me yelling “1-2-1-2” like my life depended on it 😂

I got to reunite with the gorgeous Mani Sidhu and 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀 too, met people I know I’ll keep in touch with, and left with something that mattered more…

A real, felt sense of what it means to belong and be part of a bigger team…

One that cheers for who you are, not just how you perform
Where you may not get a medal for last place, but you absolutely win for stepping up to the challenge
And where everyone is championing better health for humanity 💚

Here is to showing up, healing old stories and finding community 🫶🏼

The acceleration, fragmentation and unrelenting exposure of modern life run faster than our psychology and biology can adapt to.

The result is not collapse. It is slow erosion.
People living fast and full lives, but not well and whole ones.

We have become extraordinarily good at measuring what can be measured, and we have gradually abandoned what cannot…

The felt quality of being alive, the qualities that make us truly human and
the sense of being genuinely present in your own life.

Psychological longevity isn’t a response to the noise of the modern world, but the psychological erosion underneath.

Does this resonate with your experience recently? In your own words, what does this bring up?

“What made you feel well, whole and alive this week?”

I asked this question to a client this week, and they couldn’t answer. We sat in silence for 4 whole minutes, whilst they searched their experience and found only a loud void.

A client, who by every external measure has succeeded, optimised and ‘life maxxed’. Founder, entrepreneur, investor, marathon runner, provided for their family…

They to the got end of their daily to-do list often.
They organised, planned, functioned and executed.
They delivered, performed and exceeded.

But whilst their external world had expanded, gotten faster and more full…

Their internal world had receded, eroded and narrowed…

Not what you delivered. What you felt.

This is the gap between fast and full and well and whole.

- Fast and full: phone checked before you’ve woken up. The school play attended - in the room, but not quite arrived. The diary full, the output high, the life looking right from the outside.

- Well and whole: conversations where you’re listening rather than preparing your response. The pottering Sunday that feels like enough and not time wasted. Knowing what you actually want, not what you’ve decided you ‘should’ want.

Most people are living the first and losing access to the second so gradually they don’t notice the drift.

Until the body starts speaking because the mind wouldn’t pause.

For me, this is where psychological longevity sits…

Not the performance of the life. The quality of being inside it.

Which one describes where you are living from right now?

💡”Relief is not the same as repair.”

That’s the line that resonated most when I spoke on the ukactive panel last week, on GLP-1 medication and the future of fitness. Dr Hussain Al-Zubaidi brought the medical lens, Richard Sloggett brought policy. I brought the psychological one - the human experience inside the body.

🧠 Some aha moments from real stories* of women I’ve interviewed on GLP-1s:

• Most people privately buying GLP-1s aren’t unmotivated. They’re overwhelmed and at capacity - jobs, kids, plates already spinning.

• Many have tried every diet, every gym, every version of willpower. GLP-1 takes something off their plate without asking for time or energy they don’t have.

• But medication can’t repair the relationship with health underneath it. That’s psychological. Without it, we’re treating a symptom and leaving the root untouched.

• The barrier to fitness isn’t always price. It’s personal cost - the courage to walk through gym doors. Gymtimidation is real.

• We’ll only reach more people when we stop speaking to the already-motivated and start building spaces where the long-excluded finally feel they belong.

• And every person I’ve interviewed isn’t chasing a number. They’re chasing a feeling. “I feel like me again.”

As a psychotherapist, I’m not here to endorse or oppose a medication.

But shaming someone for their weight, then shaming them for what they do about it, has never made a healthier human.

Done responsibly, GLP-1s could be an entry point into a new relationship with Self. A sense of agency, in a world of urgency.

Where does this land with you?

Thanks to ukactive for the invitation, Red Bull UK for the space, and every operator who came with an open mind.

Grateful to sit on two panels at Elevate this year.

Different topics, different panelist’s, but the same truth kept surfacing in both.

🧠 People don’t act on what they know. They act on what they *believe.*

And so many people - women especially - aren’t staying away from fitness spaces because they’re lazy or unmotivated. They’re staying away because somewhere along the way, a belief took root that said *this isn’t for someone like me.*

You can redesign a gym. You can improve the programming. But you cannot renovate your way around an internal narrative that lives inside someone.

What changes things isn’t infrastructure. It’s the moment someone walks in and feels like they are more than a transaction, but genuinely welcomed as a whole person.

A familiar face, a member of staff who actually sees them, a room that tells their nervous system *you’re safe here.*

Because when someone is already overwhelmed, already running on empty, the world feels like a threat.

And a room full of equipment and strangers can register as exactly that!

The people who most need movement in their lives aren’t looking for another thing on their to-do list.

They’re looking to become someone different. Healthier. Happier. More whole. 🌱

That’s what we’re really building toward, and it starts with how people *feel*, not what they’re told to do.

Convenience is the currency of the modern world. People want it, they expect it, but it is human connection that creates the kind of loyalty that actually nurtures us individually and collectively 🙌🏼

My biggest takeaway from my first Evolve event, hosted by

A day talking about data (not the most s*xy subject, I appreciate - but one that when understood in terms of understanding humans better, becomes the backbone of how we can better serve humanity!

within the leisure industry, Now I don’t usually find data the most exciting of topics…but yesterday, the penny did drop as to how important it actually is.

It was interesting to also learn about the thread around immersive, arts-inspired experience - the idea that environments intentionally designed to evoke genuine positive emotion do not just feel good in the moment, they measurably amplify health outcomes. This definitely validated everything I felt during the experience at the retreat last month!

Through my lens of Psychological Longevity, the bridge between mind and body still needs work. Physical health has always had the infrastructure, the metrics, the visible frameworks, but psychological health is still catching up, and yet it is the very thing that determines whether any of the rest of it sticks!

Whether change becomes lasting. Whether people truly thrive rather than simply function. Whether all these incredible metrics actually mean something!

And the highlight, as it always is, was the people in the room. The health and wellness industry genuinely cares. Great to see so many familiar faces!

The future of health and longevity, I genuinely believe, lies in understanding how our psychology and self-talk directly shapes our biology and health.

Not as a concept. As a lived, measurable reality.

Which is why spending time with at the retreat was one of my highlights of the weekend.

Marisa is a world-renowned therapist, founder of Rapid Transformational Therapy, and someone who has built something of real global significance around the same core belief I have built my work around…

🧠That the mind is the most powerful tool we have, and that most people are simply not educated on how to use it.

She is also living proof of it. After being run over three years ago and breaking her leg in 14 places, she was told it would be six months before she could walk and that she would never wear heels again. She walked after six weeks, and at the retreat, sprung onto that stage in stilettos and kicked her leg in the air (far higher than I can get mine!)

Her talk on how the brain actually works and the growing evidence that self-talk is the new frontier in health, healing and happiness was far from just theoretical, and grounded in much more science that I was aware of.

But what I valued most was who she was off stage. Generous with her time, her wisdom and her attention, we had the pleasure of each other’s company a few times across the weekend.

To share that conversation with someone whose work I deeply respect, and to have her encouragement, genuinely meant something to me.

I am currently reading her new book My Mind, My Rules, which is in my therapy room as another tool I use with my clients. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who wants to understand the brain, and actually know how to work with it!

Looking forward to seeing her again at her London RTT event in June.

Have you ever noticed how the way you speak to yourself affects how you feel physically? Tell me in the comments 🙏🏼

I made a bold decision recently…and I’m so grateful that I did 💙

At the beginning of this year, I created an action board (less vision, more aligned action). At the centre was one quote:

“Be in the room where IT happens”

So when the opportunity came to fly to Corfu for the Longevity Retreat, I knew this was the room!

A chance to show up…for myself, for my mission, and to be surrounded by people I could deeply learn from.

I’ll admit, I half expected a room of clicky biohackers tracking cortisol between courses 😅

Instead, I found something far more wholesome…

A community devoted to the health of humanity, each with a personal story behind their work.

With people like (Founder of ), , , , …

But the speakers weren’t the headline.

The people were 🫶🏼

Breakfast conversations. Generous peer-to-peer mentorship. Strangers who became people I genuinely will call my friends.

After 3 days of breathwork, movement, music, and a rooftop sunset with 🙌🏼 all hierarchy dissolved, and human connection took its place

I arrived with the intention to learn, to be in the room where it happens.

I left with deep friendships, a renewed sense of belonging and a clearer conviction in what truly underpins psychological longevity:

Beyond metrics, supplements, and optimisation, it’s the meaning behind the measurements, the quality of the people around you, and how they call more of you into being.

Deep gratitude to everyone who was part of it, and to and the HOS team for creating something truly special.

I have indeed been “hacked”, in the best possible way 🇬🇷💙

Yesterday I returned to .uk this time in a stunning sky loft at Park Regis, to deliver my Psychological Longevity™ keynote to their senior leadership team.

Being invited back a year on is always a reminder that the work is landing with meaning.

The main takeaway: the biggest challenges organisations face right now are not strategic, operational or technological. They are psychological.

The world is accelerating beyond the human psyche’s natural ability to adapt. And when the pressure ramps up, when urgency becomes internalised, we lose connection to the very things that give us our human advantage:

Ethical judgment
Contextual decision-making
Emotional intelligence
Relational accountability
To name a few!

The concept that landed most deeply was Psychological Thinning - the gradual narrowing of inner life under sustained cognitive load, until high-functioning and genuinely vital are no longer the same thing. People recognised it in themselves, in their teams, in the people they love.

This is not a surface level wellbeing conversation. Investing in human intelligence is the highest-leverage, commercially intelligent thing any organisation can do right now.

Thank you to the LexisNexis team for welcoming me back with such warmth and enthusiasm.

If your organisation is navigating change and you want leaders psychologically equipped to lead through it, not just adapt to it, I’d love to talk.

For months now, I have observed an emerging pattern with the clients and organisations I work with. Not burnout, not breakdown. Something quieter, but just as consequential.

These are some notes that I have made...do they resonate?

- We are asking leaders to sustain performance in conditions that are systematically degrading their capacity to think, feel, and lead well.

- High performers who are still delivering…but no longer feel fully present in their work or their lives.

- Leaders who appear physically well and professionally successful… but are psychologically fragmented beneath the surface.

- Decision-making that is faster and more efficient (even more so with AI)…but noticeably less reflective and less considered.

- Emotional intelligence is being spoken about…but emotional experience is still being managed as noise rather than used as data.

- A growing dependence on external inputs…and a diminishing relationship with one’s own thinking.

- Careers built on performance and validation…that become structurally fragile the moment conditions change.

- Lives that look full from the outside… but feel increasingly thin on the inside.

This is not burnout. It’s psychological erosion.

And it’s why we need a more complete conversation about longevity, one that includes the psychological experience of being human.

This is the focus of my new keynote:

🧠 Psychological Longevity: Leading with Human Intelligence in an Age of Acceleration.

I am genuinely concerned about the looming capacity crisis with the seismic change that AI presents in the next 5-10 years. And what the impact on people’s physical and psychological health and quality of life.
