The next meeting of our Migraine Peer Support Group is being held next Thursday, 9 July, slightly earlier in the month than usual. The group is usually held on the third Thursday of the month but, this time around, will be held on the second Thursday instead.
The time – 6pm to 8pm – and the venue for the meeting – the Louise Hamilton Centre, on our hospital site – remain the same and, if you have migraines, you are invited to come along to have a chat with other members of the group who understand that migraine is more than ‘just a headache’.
The group also gives you the opportunity to learn more about treatments and things that may help you, and get support.
Migraine can include vision disturbance, sickness, loss of speech, jaw pain, tiredness, confusion and exhaustion. It can affect anyone, regardless of age or gender, and is debilitating.
You can find out more about migraine on the NHS website here; https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/migraine/ and read more and get support from the Migraine Trust here; https://migrainetrust.org/ The Migraine Trust are holding a ‘Managing Your Migraine’ Zoom session in September that may be of interest, based on the Migraine Awareness Week theme ‘Believe Me’. You can find more information about this here; https://migrainetrust.org/events/managing-your-migraine-migraine-awareness-week-believe-me/
The Migraine Buddy app may also be a source of helpful information – find out more and download here; https://migrainebuddy.com/
