Just a little reminder to donate what you can.
£40 is a free creative ACT session for a neurodivergent child and young person U25. These sessions are to explore what means most for them, how to sit in discomfort with the knowledge that they can make the neccessary steps and changes if something/someone does not feel right for them.

Self-Care Sunday 🧡

Therapist: “What do you do for self-care?”
Me: “Click ‘Add to Cart’ and hope for inner peace.” 😂🛍️

Okay… retail therapy might give us a little dopamine hit, but real self-care is about more than buying ourselves something nice.

Sometimes self-care looks like:
✨ Saying no without feeling guilty
✨ Taking a proper break
✨ Getting outside for some fresh air
✨ Putting your phone down
✨ Having a quiet day with no expectations
✨ Asking for help when you need it
✨ Doing something simply because it makes YOU happy

And if buying that little treat genuinely makes you smile… well, that counts for something too! 😂🧡

Self-care isn’t selfish. It’s maintenance.

What’s your favourite form of self-care? 👇

Masking is a conscious or unconscious coping strategy where a person conceals their natural behavior, traits, or emotions to fit in with societal expectations or avoid negative reactions.

Common Examples of Masking
Mirroring: Copying the body language, facial expressions, or conversational styles of others.

Suppressing Stims: Hiding repetitive movements like hand-flapping, rocking, or pacing.

Social Scripting: Rehearsing or memorizing what to say before entering social situations.

Forcing Eye Contact: Making deliberate, uncomfortable eye contact to appear engaged.

Hiding Distress: Acting unaffected by sensory overload or emotional pain

Impact on Mental Health
Exhaustion: Sustaining an artificial persona requires intense cognitive and emotional effort.

Burnout: Prolonged masking often leads to deep physical and mental fatigue, sometimes called autistic burnout.

Anxiety and Depression: Constant fear of rejection is closely linked to heightened stress and lowered self-worth.

All our therapists are neurodivergent themselves or have close family members who are neurodivergent. So we really do understand.

Please share if you feel someone may benefit from our support.

💙

Chrysalis are delighted to share that we have been awarded the Investors in People 'We Invest in Wellbeing' accreditation! 🎉

This is a fantastic achievement and a real reflection of our commitment to creating a workplace where our people feel supported, valued and able to thrive.

Wellbeing is more than a policy or an initiative, it’s about creating a culture where people can be their best, both personally and professionally. 💚

A huge thank you to everyone across our organisation who has contributed to making this possible. This accreditation belongs to all of us and we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together.

Here’s to continuing to invest in our people and making wellbeing a priority every day.
