We’ve had another lovely Saturday here at Eversley Lodge, filled with plenty of laughter, celebrations, creativity and a little bit of football! ⚽️

We kicked off the morning with some word games 🔎 Amy found what she thought was a great puzzle for everyone… only to discover that none of the words listed at the bottom were actually in the grid! 😂 The residents found this absolutely hilarious, especially as they managed to find plenty of words that weren’t on the list! They all agreed that Amy was definitely trying to trick them! 😆 Thankfully, Amy found another word search that actually worked! 🧩

🎂 After lunch, we celebrated Josie’s birthday! 🎉
And we think Josie was pleasantly surprised! Our wonderful chef Nicki created the most delicious Victoria sponge cake — and just look how stunning it was! 🍰❤️ The residents all enjoyed a slice as their dessert, making the birthday celebrations extra special.

⚽️ After lunch, Brian and Derek settled down in the lounge to watch Millwall vs Norwich, before meeting up again at 5pm for the Brentford vs Spurs game.

🎨 Later in the afternoon, Lesley, decided to show Gladys, Pauline and Amy her amazing collection of handmade cards — and what a collection it was!
Lesley is incredibly talented, and we were all so impressed with her beautiful designs. It has certainly given Amy some inspiration for a future card-making craft activity! ✂️💌
Gladys and Pauline were fascinated and asked lots of questions about how Lesley first got into crafting. We discovered that around 15–20 years ago, while Lesley was studying for a degree, she came across some craft bits and pieces and an advert in the paper for card-making lessons. From there, her creativity simply grew and grew! ❤️

Maria and Marion soon joined the conversation too, which led to lots of laughter, laughs and giggles all around! 😂🥰

A Saturday full of laughter, cake, creativity, conversation and good company — just the way we like it at Eversley Lodge! ❤️

🌸 Today at Eversley Lodge 🌸

We started our morning with some fun and laughter during our fitness games! Pauline, Lesley and Gladys all got involved and took part in our drop game, testing their reactions as they tried to catch the foam tubes as they fell. It was such a laugh — and a fantastic way to work on hand-eye coordination! 👏😊

We then enjoyed a friendly game of boules, which brought out some lovely competitive spirit! 🎯 This led to some wonderful conversations about our residents’ hobbies and the things they used to enjoy doing in their free time. It was lovely hearing everyone share their memories and interests. 💬❤️

After lunch, we got creative with some arts and crafts. 🎨🌷 Our residents made these beautiful flower wreaths to decorate their bedrooms, and we think they look absolutely stunning! 🌸🏡

What a lovely day filled with activity, creativity, laughter and conversation at Eversley Lodge! ❤️

We’ve already shared the wonderful news that Eversley Lodge has recently been reaccredited with Platinum Status by the The Gold Standards Framework CIO (GSF) for our work in end of life care — but we wanted to give you a little more insight into what this achievement means to us and how we achieved our 100% marks! 🌟

In this video, our Home Manager Danielle and Clinical Deputy Manager Demi talk about what GSF means to them, the importance of providing truly person-centred end of life care, and the incredible team effort behind this recognition.

As Danielle says: “The staff have worked really hard to gain the accreditation. Wholeheartedly. Everybody, not just us as management but from the chefs, the domestics, activities, the admin, support workers. 🫶🏻

And Demi shares: “It evidences the work we do naturally, everyday. Including all of the things that we can put in place to make somebody’s life, no matter how long that may be with us, special, personal and person centred.” 🌿

For us, Platinum isn’t simply a certificate or an accreditation. It represents the compassion, dignity and commitment our team strives to provide to every resident and their loved ones, particularly during some of the most important and difficult moments of their lives.

We’re incredibly proud of Danielle, Demi and every member of the Eversley Lodge team who continues to make this level of care possible. 💜

🧘‍♀️ Thursday Morning Yoga at Eversley Lodge 🧘‍♂️

This morning we enjoyed our weekly yoga session with our wonderful wellness coach, Premy, joining us via Zoom. 💜

Gladys, Jill, Josie, Brian, Pauline & Lesley all came together in our first-floor lounge to take part. 🧘‍♀️✨

Our yoga sessions are so important for our residents, helping them feel that they can continue to exercise and keep active, even while seated. Throughout each session, Premy guides our residents through breathing exercises and techniques, gentle stretches and movements that everyone can do at their own pace.

It’s lovely to see everyone getting involved, and once the session has finished, our residents can really feel the benefits – both physically and mentally. 🌿💜

Well done everyone, and a big thank you to Premy for another wonderful session! 👏😊

🌟 Here’s More of What We Got Up To Yesterday at Eversley Lodge! 🌟

We started our morning with our wonderful Friend in Deed intergenerational session, welcoming Emily Tiny Tots Childminding with Lucian, George, Harper, Jenson & Lilia. Hannah also brought Evie along to join in the fun! 🥰👶

These intergenerational visits are so important and bring so much joy to both our residents and the children. It’s wonderful watching everyone interact, play and build such lovely connections together. 💕

One particularly heartwarming moment was when Lucian was waving hello to Lesley, and when it was time to leave he said, “Love you, bye!” 🥹❤️ Absolutely adorable!

The children all get on so well together, and it’s lovely seeing them playing, laughing and enjoying
time with our residents. 👶👵❤️

📸 In the afternoon, it was PHOTO DAY!

Sam printed out baby photos of our Eversley Lodge staff, and our residents had the very important job of guessing “Who’s Who?” 👶😂

Some were fairly easy to recognise, while others were much harder to match! Everyone had lots of fun making their guesses and seeing what our staff looked like as babies.

🐾🐶 A Very Special Visit from Nelson! 🐶🐾

Today we were delighted to welcome Mark and his wonderful pet therapy dog, Nelson, back to Eversley Lodge! ❤️

Mark and Nelson are part of Pets As Therapy and we are so excited that Nelson will now be visiting our residents every two weeks. 🐾

Nelson is an adorable 18-month-old Golden Retriever and is still new to Pets As Therapy, so he is learning to adapt to his surroundings here at Eversley. This was only his second visit, but he has already made such a huge impact on our residents. 🥰

Nelson visits our residents in their rooms as well as spending time in the lounges, bringing plenty of smiles, cuddles and happiness wherever he goes. ❤️

Mark is also the owner of Munchies Café by the Waterways in Great Yarmouth, and when Nelson isn't busy being a therapy dog, he can often be found enjoying walks along the beach and even having a swim in the sea! 🌊🐕‍🦺

Our residents absolutely adore him!

Chris said: “I love dogs more than humans, and Nelson has made my day!” 🥰

Jill said: “It’s wonderful what Nelson does visiting everyone.” ❤️

It’s amazing to see the joy and comfort that animals can bring, and we can already see what a special bond Nelson is beginning to build with everyone at Eversley Lodge.

We can’t wait to welcome Nelson and Mark back very soon! 🐾❤️

☕️ Coffee, Clues & Sports Day at Eversley Lodge! 🏆

This morning, we hosted a lovely coffee morning with our local Reverend Richard. We played a card game called “Give Me Five”, where our residents had to work out what Sam was describing using just five clues! 🃏🤔

Our residents were fantastic and managed to guess almost the entire pack — there was just one that had us stumped… a skateboard! 🛹😂 We certainly learnt lots from the game and had plenty of laughs along the way.

This afternoon, Sam, our Activities Coordinator, brought Sports Day to Eversley Lodge! 🏅

Our residents took part in:
🏃‍♀️ Relay Race – passing the noodle along to each other
🎯 Javelin Throwing – throwing a noodle through a hoop
🏃 5 Metre Sprint – using the newspaper treadmill
🏸 Balloon Badminton
🥎 Shot Put – throwing bean bags into the rings

Everyone gave it their absolute best, and Sam thought every resident deserved a medal🏅
