💗 World Organ Donation Day 💗

Today, on World Organ Donation Day, we at the Scottish Kidney Federation would like to honour and remember all organ donors, and the families who have supported their loved one’s wishes to give the gift of life. 🫶🏻

During the most heartbreaking and devastating time imaginable, the decision to honour a loved one’s wishes and donate their organs is an incredibly selfless act. Because of that decision, recipients are given another chance at life, and their families and loved ones are given the precious gift of more time together. ❤️

We would also like to recognise and celebrate all the incredible living donors. Choosing to become a living donor is no small decision. The gift you give is truly like no other, and to so many recipients, you really are their very own superheroes. 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️ Many people do not realise you can be a living donor, you do not require to know the person to donate 💜

On this poignant day, we would love to hear your organ donation stories.

Whether you are a transplant recipient, a living donor, or a family affected by organ donation, please feel free to share your experience in the comments.

Every story shared has the potential to make a difference. If hearing someone else’s experience encourages just one person to share their organ donation wishes with their loved ones, or inspires someone to consider becoming a living donor, then that story can have an impact far beyond the person sharing it.

Today, we remember. We give thanks. And above all, we celebrate the incredible gift of life. 💗

Please share your wishes with those you love.

Every year, thousands of carers and former carers take part in our annual State of Caring survey, helping us build the most comprehensive picture of unpaid carers' lives in Scotland and across the UK.

Carer experiences matter, and by taking part you will help ensure that carers' voices are heard by policymakers, health and care services, employers and the wider public.

The findings from this year's survey will play a vital role in shaping Carers Scotland's campaigns, research and policy work over the coming year. At a time when a new Scottish Government and Scottish Parliament have been elected and decisions are being made about the health, social care and support for carers, it has never been more important that carers have their say. 🫶🏻
