Greater Glasgow and Clyde residents are reminded that GP practices and many pharmacies will be closed on Monday 25th May for the Spring bank holiday.

People who need medicines regularly are encouraged to think ahead and ensure they have an appropriate supply of their repeat prescriptions.

Routine medications will not be issued by the GP Out of Hours service.

A number of community pharmacies will be open on the holiday Monday and information on this can be found here: https://www.nhsggc.scot/your-health/right-care-right-place/pharmacy/pharmacy-opening-hours-end-of-may-bank-holiday/

If you need urgent medical attention and cannot wait until your GP practice reopens, please contact NHS 24 on 111.

The GP Out of Hours service is by-appointment only, so please ensure you call NHS 24 on 111 first.

GP practices across NHSGGC are changing to a new GP IT system. This is part of a Scotland-wide upgrade to ensure all practices use the same system in the future.

For most people, there will be little or no long-term change. During the changeover, which usually lasts around 10 days, you may notice some temporary differences, such as:

• Fewer routine appointments available on specific days
• Changes to online services like appointment booking or repeat prescriptions
• Short delays with non-urgent requests or paperwork

Your GP practice team will continue to provide safe care, and urgent care will remain available as usual.

If your practice hasn’t contacted you yet, this change may already have happened or will take place later.

Upcoming affected practices include:

• King Street Surgery, Paisley – from 23 April
• Riverview Medical Centre, Johnstone – from 7 May
• Alba Medical Group, Erskine & Johnstone – from 7 May
• Mains Medical Centre, Erskine – from 14 May
