WHAT I OFFER THROUGH FIERCE AS F**K

Through Fierce As F**k, I offer two connected forms of work for counsellors, psychotherapists and other experienced practitioners:

In-depth creative courses.

And one-to-one practitioner consultation.

MY CREATIVE COURSES

I create and facilitate substantial, in-depth creative processes that unfold over several hours, weeks or months.

These are not art lessons, quick therapeutic exercises or prescribed activities with a predetermined outcome.

I build an entire journey around a central image or territory—such as the tree, the body, the womb or the yoni—and carefully develop it through a sequence of invitations, writing, imagery, painting, collage, bodily awareness, reflection and witnessing.

I produce the whole experience: the original concept, the structure, the creative stages, the questions, and the written and filmed material.

My facilitation is relational, responsive and grounded in nearly thirty years of therapeutic experience.

I accompany each person closely. I notice what is emerging and may offer invitations that take the work further, but I do not analyse anyone’s artwork or position myself as the authority on what it means.

The person creating the work remains the authority.

The finished piece is not the sole purpose.

It becomes a living record of an unfolding process—something through which the person may encounter parts of themselves, make connections, recognise what they know and give visible form to experiences that may not yet have had words.

ONE-TO-ONE PRACTITIONER CONSULTATION

I also offer individual consultations for practitioners who want somewhere to think, speak and explore what may not fit easily inside supervision, therapy, training or the usual professional conversations.

We might talk about your voice and authority.

Who you have had to become in order to belong within the profession.

The parts of yourself you have learned to hide.

Your creativity, potency, uncertainty or loneliness.

The systems and professional cultures you work within.

Or something you can feel but have not yet found the language for.

This is not clinical supervision or personal therapy, and it does not replace either.

I call this work:
The Third Space.

It is a real, professionally held conversation between the two of us, via zoom or in person.

I bring my experience, attention, curiosity and willingness to respond honestly to what you bring.

WHAT CONNECTS ALL OF THIS?

I am real.

I do not disappear behind a polished professional role or offer a carefully neutral version of myself.

I turn up as the person and practitioner I actually am—sometimes in black leggings and black pixie boots.

That isn’t separate from the work.

I bring nearly thirty years of therapeutic experience, but I also bring my humanity, humour, creativity, directness and willingness to be affected by the person in front of me.

Real does not mean careless.
It does not mean boundaryless.
It means present.
It means real.

It means neither of us has to perform professionally.

If you would like to have a conversation reach out.

These conversations are free and without obligation.

Practitioner development for counsellors, therapists and coaches: presence, ethics, boundaries and the courage to bring your whole self to the work.

What do you know that you have learned not to say aloud?

Perhaps you have sat in professional rooms knowing that you had something important to contribute.

But you also knew that saying it might mean you’re called: difficult.

Too emotional.
Too challenging.
Not professional enough.

Perhaps you learned to translate yourself into the language the culture of the room would accept.

Perhaps you became quieter.

Perhaps you even dreaded going into that room.

I know what that is like.

I know what it is to feel gagged inside professional cultures.

And I wonder how much wisdom, humanity, courage and aliveness has been pushed underground in therapists who learned that belonging depended upon hiding parts of themselves.

I am offering free, private, one-to-one conversations on Zoom with counsellors and therapists.

This is not therapy.
It is not supervision.
This is The Third Space.

Somewhere you can arrive as both a professional and a human and speak about whatever feels important to you.

You do not need to prepare anything.

You do not have to disclose anything you do not want to disclose.

And nothing you say will be used to diagnose, diminish or explain you away.

Perhaps there is something you have been waiting to say aloud.

You are very welcome to come and talk with me.

I am only a message away.

Hide Her in the Cupboard

“What are we going to do with you, Kassi?
Hide you in the cupboard when the commissioners come in?”

This was said to me during an interview for a position within an NHS psychology service.

It wasn’t a joke. He was completely serious.

What made it even more extraordinary was that when I had previously worked in that department, the psychologist interviewing me had been a psychology student from university completing his placement there.

I had already been working as an experienced counsellor.

Years later, he didn’t remember me.
By then, the service had changed enormously.

Psychology and CBT had taken over and all the counsellors except one, had gone.

Now I was apparently the kind of practitioner they might have to hide from the commissioners.

They were not questioning whether I could do the work. They knew I had extensive experience.

The problem was what kind of practitioner I was.

A counsellor.
Relational.
Experiential.
Human.

Someone whose work could not necessarily be made to fit tidily into the model they wanted the commissioners to see.

I had become an embarrassment to be ‘hidden in a cupboard’ when the people with authority and money entered the building.

This was not my only experience of being professionally diminished within NHS psychological services.

I encountered different versions of it while working across three separate geographical areas in Scotland and England.

I am talking about what actually happened to me.

I am also talking about a professional hierarchy in which counsellors, many of whom were women, could be treated as though our knowledge, experience and way of working were somehow less legitimate.

And when we objected to being treated as inferior, our response could become further evidence that we were too emotional, too difficult or not sufficiently professional.

What happens to a counsellor who is repeatedly taught that she must hide the practitioner she truly is whenever authority enters the room?

How many therapists have been metaphorically put into cupboards?

Hide your feelings.
Hide your body.
Hide your uncertainty.
Hide your relational knowledge.
Hide your disagreement.
Hide your humanity.
Hide yourself when the commissioners come.

This is some of the territory I want us to be able to speak about through Fierce As F**k.

Because I invite us to examine where our voices disappear.

I invite us to notice who we become when institutional authority enters the room.

I invite us to recover the parts of ourselves that were treated as professionally embarrassing.

I want us to know what we know.
I want fewer deeply experienced practitioners believing that they belong in the fu***ng cupboard.

I would also like to invite counsellors and therapists who have experienced anything similar to come and have a private one-to-one conversation with me on Zoom.

This is not research.
I am not gathering evidence.
I am not documenting people’s stories or looking for information to use against any person, profession or organisation.

Your experience will not be turned into content.

The conversation is for you.
A place to speak about what happened.

To be met by someone who understands something about professional hierarchy, silencing and being made small.

To begin finding your own meaning, your own voice and your own way forward.

This is not therapy
This is not supervision.
This is The Third Space.

It is simply a private, warm and honest conversation between two practitioners.

You are very welcome to contact me privately if you would like to talk.

Have you ever sat in a professional room and felt gagged?

Somehow you knew which parts of you were acceptable in the room.

Which feelings ‘looked’ professional.
Which words were welcome.
Which experiences you could speak about.

And which parts of yourself needed to remain hidden if you wanted to be seen as grown-up, competent, professional, safe and belong.

I know what it is to be part of professional groups and training cultures where most are adapting too.

Trying to discover the accepted ‘way to be’.

Trying hard to belong yet knowing their Real Self would not be welcome.

Our histories.
Our feelings.
Our embodied knowing.
Our anger about injustice.
Our courage.
Our real voices.

What we have been taught to hide, is exactly what could help us meet our clients more honestly and deeply.

I am not suggesting that therapists share everything with everybody.

I don’t share experiences I am currently struggling with. I take those to my own therapist and supervisor.

I share what I have survived, explored, understood and grown through because I know how powerful it can be to discover that we are not alone.

I’m opening my Zoom room for private one-to-one conversations with counsellors and therapists who would like somewhere to speak as both a professional and a human being.

This is not therapy nor supervision.
This is The Third Space.

You will not be interpreted, diagnosed, ridiculed or reduced to a psychological label.

You don’t need to arrive with a prepared subject, and you never have to share anything you don’t want to share.

We can simply begin with whatever feels important to you and that could be our tears.

If you have ever felt gagged, hidden, shamed, or alone within the therapy world, you are very welcome to come and talk with me.

Just a simple message is a step closer to having this conversation.

There is no charge or obligation.

Some therapists are not looking for another qualification.

They already have degrees, diplomas, PhDs, accreditation and shelves full of books.

They are looking for the fierce as f**k practitioner inside themselves.

The one their training may not have known how to welcome.

The therapist who is awake. Alive. Human. Deeply feeling. And no longer willing to make herself smaller in order to look professional.

I’m opening my Zoom room and welcoming therapists in for real conversations about who we are, how we practise and what might be waiting to come alive in us.

These are one to one conversations for therapists who sense that something in them wants to become more alive, more courageous and more fully their own.

You are very welcome to come and talk with me wherever you are based.

Something is emerging through the conversations I am having with therapists.

I think about the deeply trained, ethical and experienced practitioner who can feel fully alive and potent in one room… and lose access to their voice in another.

The practitioner who knows what she knows until she is sitting at a table where somebody else’s profession, position or status is given more power.

The practitioner who has degrees, diplomas, accreditation and years of experience, but still finds herself becoming smaller in certain rooms.

I want to listen to the stories we carry about becoming and being who we are in our work.

The times we have felt respected, trusted and fully alive.

And the times we have felt diminished, silenced, ashamed, isolated or made to mistrust what we know.

Qualifications and experience matter enormously to me. So does humility.

I know what it is to lose access to my voice in the presence of professional power.

I know what it is to be treated as the lowest person at the table.

This was not one isolated experience in one difficult workplace.

Across three different geographical areas, while working within NHS primary care, secondary care and psychological services, I repeatedly encountered the same professional hierarchy.

I was an experienced, BACP Accredited counsellor undertaking complex work across five GP surgeries, yet I was often made to feel that I should be grateful simply to have been allowed into the room.

Those experiences have never left me.

Perhaps Fierce As F**k is partly about how we remain connected to our voice, potency and professional knowing in the face of power.

It is not about becoming louder or combative. I believe it is about finding the practitioner inside us who can say:

I know what I know.
I am still here.
And I am going to speak.

I am opening a small number of private, one-to-one Zoom conversations with counsellors and therapists.

This is not therapy.
This is not supervision.
This is The Third Space.

A place to bring your professional story.

Perhaps something in you wants to become more alive, more courageous and more fully your own.

You do not have to make your experience tidy, impressive or acceptable.

You are very welcome to come and talk with me.
