1. We like to see ourselves as the gym for ‘non-gym’ kinda people. Our average age of members is 55+. We love to help beginners get into training and see it for more than just looking better.
HOWEVER… don’t be fooled.
The Unit One Team are fkin strong, physically and mentally.
And their efforts are what motivate me to show up every day.
2. Yes, I ached on Sunday. But I dodged the bullet, really. Thought I might have got away with it, but training this week, I know I’m not recovered. Feel weak as p**s. Joints take a bit of warming up. Heart rate is up after minimal movement.
The answers. Don’t push through. Work with easy weights. More mobility and movement work. Less strength. Go again when I feel ready.
3. Your body is capable of a lot more than you think… And your mind will play tricks on you. Control that, and you’re onto a winner.
4. Quality sleep is the one thing people ignore. But before starting any training, diet, or new routine. Check sleep. If that’s not on point. Fix that first. Poor sleep will make everything harder and put you at a higher risk of injury. I knew this before, but this ones just a reminder.
5. Hats off to anyone who takes on any kind of mad challenge solo. The mindset, the motivation, everything… doing it with such a good group as we did almost made it enjoyable 🤣
