🚨 Today is 999 Day 🚑🚒🚓

Today we recognise and thank the incredible people working across our emergency services who are there for our communities when they’re needed most.

At Daisy Homecare, we know just how important working together can be. Our carers and team regularly work alongside emergency services, healthcare professionals and other community services to make sure people receive the right support, care and reassurance when they need it.

Whether it’s sharing vital information, supporting someone following an emergency, or simply working together to help keep people safe and well at home, collaboration plays such an important part in community care.

A huge thank you to everyone across our emergency services for everything you do, not just today, but every day. 💚

Stronger communities come from working together.

Today is National Grief Awareness Day 🤍

A day to encourage open conversations about loss, remembrance and the many different ways we experience grief.

Grief is more than simply missing someone who has died. It is learning to live in a world they have left behind, carrying their memories, stories and the impact they had on our lives with us.

At Daisy Homecare, we know that behind every person we care for is a lifetime of memories, loved ones and stories that deserve to be cherished. Through our care, we meet people who have loved and lost greatly, often with a lifetime of memories to share.

We also have the privilege of caring for people who, sadly, we later have to say goodbye to. We have lost many wonderful people, including so many this year. Not one of them is simply forgotten; their stories, personalities and memories stay with us, and we will continue to talk about them for years to come.

During times of loss, we will always strive to provide not only care, but compassion, comfort and understanding. Sometimes the greatest support we can give is simply being there.

Today, reach out to someone who may be grieving and check in. Let them know you’re there. Give them the space to talk about the person they’ve lost, to share a memory or simply to be heard. A small gesture can mean more than we realise.

Care comes in many forms, and grief doesn’t change that. 🤍

🌼 Supporting independence looks different for everyone.

For some, it might mean staying comfortably in the home they love. 🏡
For others, it’s keeping their usual routines, making their own choices, or simply having a helping hand when it’s needed.

At Daisy Homecare, we believe good care should support independence, not take it away.💚

We work around each person’s individual needs, choices and routines, helping them to remain confident and in control of their day-to-day life.

Because care isn’t about taking over. It’s about being there when it matters. 🌼

Care built around you.

💬 Conversations Matter

Sometimes, the smallest conversations can make the biggest difference. 💚

Taking a few minutes to stop, listen and have a chat can help someone feel heard, valued and connected. Whether it’s over a cup of tea, during a care visit, or simply picking up the phone to say hello, every conversation matters.

For older people especially, regular social interaction can help reduce feelings of loneliness, boost wellbeing and create meaningful connections.

At Daisy Homecare, care isn’t just about the practical things. It’s about listening, talking, laughing and being there. 🌼

So today, why not take a moment to start a conversation?
You never know how much it might mean to someone. 💚

Today, we’re celebrating World Senior Citizens Day 💚

A chance to recognise and appreciate the older generations who have shaped our families, our communities and our world.

Their stories, experiences, wisdom and kindness are something to be valued every day. 🌿

At Daisy Homecare, we’re proud to support people to live with independence, dignity and choice, while helping them continue to enjoy the things that matter most to them.

💚 You are valued.

❤️ World Humanitarian Day | Wednesday 19 August

Today, we recognise the incredible people around the world who dedicate their time, compassion and courage to helping others in times of need.

World Humanitarian Day is a reminder of the difference that kindness can make. Whether through humanitarian work, volunteering, caring for others, or simply supporting someone who needs a helping hand. 🌍💚

At Daisy Homecare, we believe that compassion and care can make a real difference, one person at a time.

To humanitarian workers, volunteers, carers and everyday heroes everywhere.
Thank you for all that you do. ❤️

☀️ Hot weather is here! ☀️

Temperatures are expected to reach at least 30°C today, so it’s important to take a little extra care and keep cool, especially for older adults and those who may be more vulnerable to the heat. 🌡️

💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day
🏡 Keep curtains or blinds closed to help keep rooms cool
🌳 Stay out of the sun during the hottest parts of the day
👕 Wear light, loose-fitting clothing
🧴 Use sun protection if heading outdoors
💚 Check in on older relatives, friends and neighbours

Even small steps can make a big difference when temperatures rise.

Please look after yourselves and each other, and enjoy the sunshine safely! 🌼☀️
