This International Friendship Day, we are proud to support Adopt A Grandparent! 🧡

They're a charity creating regular companionship between older people living in care homes and volunteers across the UK and beyond.

At Autumna, we know how important it is for older people and their families to feel informed, supported and less alone when navigating later life. That is why Adopt a Grandparent’s work matters so much.

A weekly video call may sound simple, but for many residents it can become something to look forward to. A familiar face. A shared joke. A conversation about football, music, travel, family or memories from years gone by.

For the second year, The Care Workers' Charity is excited to invite care workers across roles - whether you're a care assistant, support worker, outreach worker, registered manager, assistant manager, or personal assistant- to participate in their 2026 Care Worker Wellbeing Survey.

It got our team thinking about the incredible history sitting in care homes up and down the country. Many residents will have watched the historic 1966 final on tiny black-and-white tellies in the corner of the room.

Some of them might have even been lucky enough to be at Wembley Stadium to see it happen live!

Thousands of care homes across the UK invited their local communities inside. This years event took on a World Cup theme, 'bringing it home', with residents and children playing football together and homes hosting other fun, themed activities.⚽️
