Research Update: Good news for people with back and neck pain 🔬🍂
As the days turn cooler, many of us notice our backs and necks becoming a little stiffer. It’s no surprise that autumn and winter often bring an increase in everyday aches and pains, but there is encouraging news from the research world.
The UK’s NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines explicitly recommend conservative care—including hands-on manual therapy and targeted exercise—as a primary first-line approach for managing low back pain, before turning to medication or invasive surgery.
Recent systematic reviews continue to support these recommendations, demonstrating that chiropractic care effectively reduces pain, restores movement, and supports long-term recovery for persistent or recurring spinal issues—without the risks or side effects of drugs or surgical intervention.
At Guildford Chiropractic Centre, we believe the best treatment always starts with an accurate, thorough diagnosis. Philip and our clinical team take the time to understand the underlying cause of your symptoms before creating a tailored, evidence-based care plan.
Not every niggle requires treatment. But if stiffness or pain is stopping you from staying active, limiting your favourite sports, affecting your work, or keeping you from enjoying time with your children or grandchildren, it’s time to get proper advice.
The evidence continues to grow: conservative, hands-on care offers the safest and most effective place to start.
