British Society of Lifestyle Medicine

British Society of Lifestyle Medicine Preventing, treating, managing and reversing chronic disease using evidence-based lifestyle medicine. Visit www.bslm.org.uk for more information.

Imagine a world free from an ever increasing burden of disease related to living an

unhealthy lifestyle; a world free from disease which is currently suppressing the wellbeing

of individuals, straining society healthcare systems and driving inequality. The current

management of lifestyle-related diseases is dominated by the use of pharmaceuticals, but

this approach does not tackle the root causes of such diseases. The British Society of

Lifestyle Medicine (BSLM) believes that using Lifestyle as Medicine is a more effective

and sustainable way of managing illness. Lifestyle Medicine is not only simple and cost-effective, it empowers individuals to take

their health into their own hands. BSLM is building a multidisciplinary network of

healthcare professionals who believe in re-energising the healthcare system and

reframing it away from disease towards health. We are a group who want to collaborate

by sharing our knowledge of using Lifestyle as Medicine to build a reliable, evidence-
informed resource which can help you and your patients to lead healthier lifestyles. BSLM

warmly invites you to join an energetic, resourceful and creative society and to be part of

a global alliance for sustainable healthy change. Let’s turn the tide of disease for the

greater good of our patients, our communities, ourselves and our planet.

Good morning and welcome to Day 3 of BSLM 2026 🙌

We’re ready for the final day of an incredible few days of learning, connection and inspiration.

We’ll start the morning with an opening address from Dr Edward Maile, before looking at how we move from learning to leading. We’ll reflect on 10 years of teaching lifestyle medicine, hear about the BSLM Learning Academy and look back on four years of leadership from Dr Alex Maxwell 🎓

We’ll then explore health across the lifespan, from addiction and childhood obesity to improving health throughout our lives, alongside a practical programme covering the essentials of lifestyle medicine.

There’s lots to look forward to, so grab your coffee, connect with fellow delegates and make the most of our final day together.

Welcome to Day 3 of BSLM 2026! Let’s make it count 🙌

That’s a wrap on Day 2 of BSLM 2026 🙌

Dr Camille Hirons, BSLM Vice President, brings us to the end of another inspiring day.

We started with a powerful focus on behaviour change, exploring what it takes to adopt new habits and how we can move beyond lifestyle advice to embed behaviour change into NHS care pathways 🧠

We heard inspiring examples of innovation in communities, celebrated the perspectives and experiences of our Voices of Lived Experience team, and explored the latest research and evidence bringing lifestyle medicine to life.

Our Special Interest Groups also took centre stage, showcasing the incredible work happening across areas including paediatrics, women’s health, schools, physical activity and MSK 🤝

And what better way to finish the day than coming together at the Soirée on the Slate! ✨

A huge thank you to our speakers, chairs, moderators, volunteers and delegates for making Day 2 such a memorable one.

Two days down, and we’re not done yet. Bring on Day 3!

We’re getting ready for another brilliant day of learning, connection and conversation across lifestyle medicine.

Today begins with an opening address from incoming BSLM President, Dr Clare Nieland, before we turn our focus to one of the biggest challenges in lifestyle medicine: behaviour change.

Our morning session, “Adopting New Habits: How Difficult Can It Be?”, will explore behavioural science, agency and healthspan, as well as how we can move beyond lifestyle advice and embed behaviour change into NHS care pathways 🧠

There’s plenty more to look forward to throughout the day, from inspiring stories of innovation in communities and our Voices of Lived Experience session, to academic posters, the latest science and our Special Interest Groups.

Want to get involved with a Special Interest Group? Find out more and connect with colleagues who share your interests here:https://bslm.org.uk/special-interest-groups/

That’s a wrap on Day 1 of BSLM 2026 🙌

Dr Alex Maxwell brings us to the end of an inspiring first day, which began with a look back at 10 years of BSLM and, importantly, a conversation about the future of lifestyle medicine and where BSLM goes next.

We’ve heard fantastic examples of lifestyle medicine in action from around the world , explored the fascinating world of the gut microbiome, and shared ideas about how we can continue to translate evidence into meaningful change for individuals and communities 🌍

And what better way to end the day than with our BSLM Fellows, celebrating the people helping to shape and grow the lifestyle medicine movement 🤝

A huge thank you to all our speakers, delegates, volunteers and everyone who has contributed to the conversations today.

One day down, and plenty more to come. Here’s to Day 2!

Let us know your favourite moments from Day 1 below 💬

Welcome to Day 1 of BSLM 2026! 📆

Dr Frances Elliott, Chair of BSLM, welcomes us as we come together for another inspiring BSLM conference.

Today is all about bringing the lifestyle medicine community together, sharing ideas, experiences and practical approaches that can help create healthier people, healthier communities and a healthier planet 🌍

Across the programme, we’ll hear from inspiring voices in lifestyle medicine and explore how the six pillars, nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, social connection and substance reduction, can be brought to life in practice.

But, as ever, BSLM is about much more than the speakers on stage. It’s about the conversations in between, the experiences we share, the connections we make and the learning that happens when we come together 🤝

Take the time to meet someone new, share your own journey, listen to different perspectives and celebrate the incredible work happening across our communities, neighbourhoods and workplaces.

Welcome to Day 1 of BSLM 2026 🙌
