Suddenly at home on Sunday 7th June 2026, Arlene sadly passed away, she will be a huge miss to her family, friends and everyone who knew her.

On behalf of Arlene's family we can now release the funeral details.
The service will take place on Wednesday 1st July 2026 at 12pm, South Lanarkshire Crematorium to which all family and friends are respectfully invited.
Thereafter the celebration of Arlene's life will continue back at Blantyre Miners Welfare and the family warmly invite you to join there with them to share more of your memories.

Keiron McSherry

Suddenly at Hairmyres Hospital on 30th May 2026, Keiron sadly passed away he was a much loved Partner, Dad, Son, Brother & Grandson and a friend to many, he will be sadly missed by all.

Keiron's service will take place on Tuesday 23rd June 2026 , 10am at South Lanarkshire Crematorium to which all family and friends are respectfully invited, and should you wish to wear bright colours please do so.

Funeral arrangements for Mrs Esther Farr

On behalf of Esther’s family we can now share the following funeral arrangements.

Esther will be received into St Joseph’s on Thursday 7th May at 5:30pm.

Requiem Mass will take place on Friday 8th May at 10:00am, St Joseph’s RC Church Blantyre, thereafter Priestfield Cemetery.

All Friends and family are respectfully invited.

Today our private ambulance was issued a parking ticket after stopping for only a few minutes outside our Parlour on Cadzow Street.

The vehicle was there as part of a funeral operation — a situation specifically covered by the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) which provides exemptions for vehicles being used in connection with funeral duties. Despite this, the parking warden still chose to issue a ticket even when shown the TRO order issued by South Lanarkshire Council.

We are a small independent business trying to earn an honest living while providing a dignified service to families at some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Our staff attend homes, hospitals and care facilities every day to bring loved ones into our care with professionalism and respect.

Instead of understanding the nature of the work being carried out, it seems easier for some wardens to simply issue fines without considering the circumstances or the regulations that actually apply.

Stopping for a few minutes while carrying out funeral duties should not result in a penalty notice.

Small businesses like ours work hard to serve the community, and it is incredibly frustrating to feel like parking wardens are actively hunting down vehicles to fine rather than applying the rules fairly and with common sense.

We will of course be challenging this ticket.

But more importantly, we believe situations like this should be highlighted so people understand the challenges small local businesses in Hamilton face while simply trying to do their job properly and respectfully. All business pay South Lanarkshire Council exorbitant business rates while they continue to put profit over people.

Thomas McAlpine

At Abbeydale Court Care Home on 10th January 2026, Tom McAlpine aged 89 years, passed peacefully surrounded by his family.
We can now release the funeral details.

As we step into 2026, we do so carrying more than hope and new plans….we carry names, memories, and a quiet ache for those who should be here with us. 2025 took people we loved.
It took laughter we expected to hear again, voices we thought we still had time for, and moments we assumed were waiting just ahead.

Grief doesn’t reset with the calendar. It lingers in empty chairs, unread messages, and milestones that feel different now. Some days in 2026 will feel lighter, others impossibly heavy. Both are okay. There is no right way to grieve and no timeline for healing. Strength isn’t found in “being okay” - it’s found in continuing to show up, continuing to smile and embrace the days even when your heart feels tender and tired.

So as this new year begins, we honour those we lost by living gently, loving deeply, and allowing ourselves grace. We move forward not because the pain is gone, but because love remains.

Here’s to 2026 - a year of remembrance, resilience, and quiet courage. We walk into it carrying both sorrow and love, hand in hand.
