Running a successful personal training business is just like anything else…

Everyone wants to know how to get more clients fast.

They think it’s something fancy, something exciting, that they’re missing a trick.

But truth be told they just need to keep doing the boring stuff!

Think when you’re client asks how they get results fast, it isn’t anything special.

It’s showing up and doing the daily things.

For you, it’s getting results.

Be seen doing a good job.

Have some personality.

Being present on social media.

Being present on the gym floor.

Putting yourself out there.

Doing free sessions and inductions.

Putting out offers.

Run challenges.

Educate yourself.

It’s putting in the hard graft going over and above, doing hours you don’t want to do.

It’s rare you’ll see someone go from no clients to 40 in a year.

If they do, they were already doing most of these things and had a reputation already,

For most it isn’t the case.

Put in the work, play the long game and don’t pick a choose what you want to do.

It all matters!

The reason so many people can’t stick out training is because they don’t have a goal.

It’s all well and good saying “ I want to get a bit bigger”, “I want to lose a bit”

That’s doing nothing for you.

There’s zero specificity to it.

So doing a bit doesn’t mean you’re going to get a bit of results.

Results require a lot more than you think.

So you need to be in it, you need to have drive, and you need to be dialled in to what the big picture is.

Training sucks for me right now.

I’m trying to get fitter, so drive to train with weights isn’t the same.

Nowhere near it compared to when I was bodybuilding.

Purely cause it isn’t conducive to what I’m really looking to achieve right now.

So get specific with your goal setting.

Set smaller milestones and keep that as your focus to make all the difference!

I don’t coach anywhere near the amount of what I used to…

But the few boys I do have, put in the work 💪🏻

Progress of a wee 6/ 7 week tidy up for 🔥

Another young buck with some mad potential!

We’ve been working together for around a year now with the sole focus to grow so we’ve literally never dieted really other than this last short phase.

Which doesn’t really mean anything but so many people get so set in trying to look a certain way year round that they just stunt their progress.

So the fact Kerr doesn’t ever focus too much on now, and is looking at the big picture is unreal! Having that mindset at such a young age is a game changer for progress!

I wish I had that focus n my early 20s.

Watch this space as we get another year of growing! 🦍

You don’t get hate from above…

In the last few days I’ve heard of multiple different stories of people getting hate or slandered.

The sad thing is it’s always when people are doing well.

And coming from someone in a seemingly worse of position.

We now have a culture where drama and bitching is the norm.

People hate to see others do well.

Personally I love to see people getting new cars, houses, making more money, rewarding themselves when they hit goals with materialistic things.

It’s why we all work hard at the end of the day,

If we support each other we all come up together.

That’s what I preach to my team in the gym.

But if you’re getting hate; just know it’s coming from a place of insecurity, jealousy and hate for their own lives.

And you’re still doing well!

We need a change in society. Positive vibes!

Back when I was banging out results for fun!

Today all I’ve seen is posts about standards of coaching, scammers and influencers in the industry,

The pool of coaches around is bigger than ever.

So unfortunately that does mean you get all of the above.

It’s no longer just a worry about getting a s**t coach.

You might get scammed now too.

For me, you meed to look at a potential coaches body of work.

Do they show testimonials, transformations and provide constant value?

If yes, great. Even better if you know someone who’s worked with them.

Don’t just go off of, them having 20k followers, fancy reels, if they have one influencer client on their roster,

It’s a sad state we’re in now for this to be the case.

But the sad things it is just people looking for the cash and an easy life.

Not providing a top notch service!

The season of doubt…

When I was full fledged coaching I always found a lull at a point in summer months.

To begin with I worried like f**k.

After years, I knew it was just a seasonal thing.

Now mentoring some coaches I still see things slow for them and they doubt. But with experience you realise times to push and pull.

Improve other things rather than looking for clients.

Now I’m in a new game.

2 years in and some lessons from coaching can carry over but not all of them.

I still have doubts and worries.

For me it’s about trying to act like a business owner now over a coach which I always want to default to due to habit.

I try to ask myself:

Can I control it?

Are we serving people well?

Zoom out, what can we do better?

Are we always getting better?

It doesn’t always work but if you’re a stress head controller like myself it’s a working progress.

And if you’re coach, going through a lull, I’d ask yourself these things too!

There’s far too many factors that are going to effect your seasons of coaching which you can’t control,

Focus on what you can.

Gearing up to taking a week off work….

It’s never simple when you’re running a business.

But for me it’s more in my head than anything.

How much can really go wrong in a gym in a week?

But I feel like I could come back to nothing just because I’m not there 🤯

12 years of self employment you’d think it would get better but I think it just ingrains that there’s no off button.

Business owners, does it ever get easier? 😂

What a team ♥️
