📚 Happy National Read a Book Day! 📚

Today, as we celebrate the joy of reading, we are delighted to celebrate one of our wonderful residents, Gwyneth, who worked as a librarian for many years in Harpenden. ❤️

In preparation for National Read a Book Day, I took Gwyneth back to the library where she worked on Friday. It was a very special and nostalgic visit for her. She had the opportunity to meet some of the staff, look around the bookshelves, and reminisce about her years working there.

We also spent some lovely time reading two books together before saying goodbye. 📖😊 Gwyneth thoroughly enjoyed the experience and has already expressed her wish to visit again sometime.

It was wonderful to see how a familiar place and the simple pleasure of books brought back such happy memories. ❤️

Another Fun Filled Week at Willow Court! 🎉

It has been another wonderful week filled with fun, laughter and engaging activities for our residents! 😊

On Wednesday morning, we enjoyed our Omi Board Game for the month of September led by Chris and Kate volunteers from HarpendenTrust/ Harpenden Memory Lane, followed by an exciting game of Snakes and Ladders in the afternoon. There was plenty of friendly competition and lots of smiles! 🎲😄

On Thursday morning, we were delighted to welcome Karen and her team from the Methodist Church, Harpenden, who led our Dementia-Friendly Service and at the same time we also had Quiz Time led by Dami on one of the other units. It was a lovely and meaningful time for our residents. ❤️

The fun continued in the afternoon with our popular Balloon Game, bringing plenty of laughter and enjoyment. 🎈

And to round off the week, we had a fantastic Sing Along on Friday, with our residents joining in and enjoying some of their favourite songs. 🎶🎤

It has truly been a fun filled week, and we are so pleased to see many of our residents getting involved, enjoying themselves and creating wonderful memories together. 💕😊

🌍POSTCARDS FROM AROUND THE WORLD 🌍

We’re excited to be taking part in Quantum Care’s ‘Postcards From Around the World’ campaign this September! Inspired by today’s World Letter Writing Day, we’re inviting people from all around the world to pick up a pen and send a handwritten postcard to our care home.

Our challenge? To receive postcards from as many different countries as possible! As the postcards arrive, our residents will add a sticker to the world map displayed in our home, ticking off each country we receive a postcard from 💌

And there’s a little friendly competition too! We’ll be competing against other Quantum Care homes, with the winning home being the one that receives postcards from the highest number of different countries.

If you, your family or friends live anywhere around the world, or you’re going on holiday in the near future, we’d love you to send a handwritten postcard to our residents. Please share this post and help us spread the word! Let’s see how many countries we can reach together.

☕🎉 What a Wonderful Coffee Morning! 🎉☕

Today’s Coffee Morning was a huge success, with a full house, some family members and friends also joined and there was plenty of smiles, laughter and fun! 😊

Our wonderful volunteer, Nigel, did a fantastic job leading the quiz, and it was amazing to see how much knowledge and information our residents have stored away in their minds! 🧠👏 The quiz certainly brought out everyone’s competitive spirit, with lots of laughter and excitement along the way. 😁🏆

💆🏽‍♀️ Relaxation in the Afternoon💆🏽‍♂️

Later in the afternoon, we were delighted to welcome Nehara, a professional Indian head massage therapist, who kindly offered our residents, staff and some family members a free trial head massage experience.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing experience and gave some wonderful feedback about how refreshed and relaxed they felt afterwards. 🌸✨

It was truly a fantastic day filled with fun, laughter, relaxation and wonderful moments together! ❤️

Today we enjoyed a fabulous National Cinema Day with our lovely ladies! 💕🎥

They had a choice between The Full Monty and Mamma Mia! After the votes were counted, the winner was… 🥁✨

What a Fun Filled Few Days at Willow Court!

We’ve had an amazing few days filled with fun, laughter, music, games, and wonderful moments together! 💕🎉

Our residents enjoyed a fantastic range of activities, including:
Dominoes Game, a little friendly competition and lots of smiles! Book Club with Julia, sharing stories, thoughts and enjoying a good read together. Quiz Time in our Day Centre, putting our knowledge to the test! Gentlemen’s Club, enjoying a lively game of Snakes and Ladders. Sing-Along Sessions, filling our different units with music and happy voices. Balloon Game, plenty of fun, movement and laughter! Church Service with Pauline, a beautiful time of worship, reflection and fellowship. Big Quiz Game, another chance to test our knowledge and have some fun together. Dart Game, great concentration, friendly competition and lots of encouragement!

It has certainly been a busy, exciting and enjoyable few days at Willow Court!

A big thank you to everyone who helped make these activities possible. Your enthusiasm and participation make every day special.

We couldn’t be more proud of our amazing Head Chef, Paul, who has been awarded Caterer of the Year! 👨‍🍳❤️
Paul has an incredible talent in the kitchen and always goes above and beyond. His dedication to the residents of Willow Court is truly outstanding, and the care, passion and love he puts into everything he does never goes unnoticed. We are so lucky to have you, Paul! 🌟

🌟 Our amazing Lacey has been awarded the Leadership Award! 🌟

Lacey devotes herself wholeheartedly to our residents, their families and our staff. She does everything with the most positive attitude, kindness and genuine love. Her dedication and leadership are truly inspiring, and we couldn’t think of anyone more deserving. ❤️

🔧 And our super incredible maintenance man, Martin, has been awarded the Support Services Award! 🏆
Martin is such a much loved member of our team, and there really is no job too big for him! His care, love and attention towards our residents is incredible, and he is always there to help whenever he is needed. We honestly don’t know what we’d do without you, Martin! ❤️

👏 Well done to all three of you! 👏

You are each so incredibly deserving, and we are beyond proud of you all. Your hard work, dedication and love for Willow Court and our residents shines through every single day.
