Longer days & better weather often mean more steps, and that’s a great thing but…
… increasing your walking volume without supporting your body can sometimes lead to overuse injuries & irritated hips.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking walking alone is enough.
To keep your hips happy:
✅ Include strength training where you can
✅ Stretch & mobilise regularly
✅ Build up your walking gradually
✅ Listen to your body’s early warning signs
⚠️ Early signs your hips may be struggling:
- Tightness at the front or side of the hip
- Discomfort when standing up after sitting
- Stiffness first thing in the morning
- Pain when walking uphill or climbing stairs
- Feeling less stable on one leg
- A dull ache in your glutes, groin or outer hip
- Needing to ‘stretch out’ your hips more often than usual
Small niggles are often easier to address than injuries that have been ignored for weeks.
Enjoy the sunshine, get your steps in, but don’t neglect the strength & mobility work that helps your body keep up 💪
