Important MenB Vaccination Update for Students and Parents
The NHS is launching a one-off MenB vaccination programme to help protect young people against meningococcal disease.
✅ Who is eligible?
All Year 13 students
Anyone under 25 who is starting university or residential further education for the first time this autumn
💉 Vaccination schedule
Two doses are required for full protection
First dose available from July
Second dose given at least 28 days later, during August
📍 Where will vaccinations be given? Please note that GP practices are not able to give this vaccination. Vaccinations will be delivered only through participating local pharmacies.
📲 How will eligible students be contacted? Everyone within the eligible Year 13 age range will receive an invitation, regardless of their education plans. Invitations will be sent directly via:

Booking information for local pharmacy appointments will be included.
🔒 Consent and enquiries As this programme includes young adults aged 18–25, The practice is unable to discuss or manage appointments with parents or guardians on behalf of an adult patient without appropriate consent.
