This is one of the questions I’m asked most often by parents.

The advice is simple:

🤍 Always place your baby on their back at the start of every sleep.

Once your baby can confidently roll from back to tummy and tummy to back on their own, it’s perfectly normal if they choose to sleep on their tummy. There’s no need to keep turning them over.

If your little one can roll onto their tummy but can’t yet roll back, continue placing them on their back to sleep and give them plenty of supervised tummy time during the day to help strengthen the muscles needed to master rolling both ways.

⚠️ One important point: As soon as your baby shows signs of trying to roll, it’s time to stop swaddling. Instead, move them into a well-fitting baby sleeping bag or suitable sleepwear so they have their arms free to move safely.

Remember, every baby develops at their own pace, but following safe sleep guidance while encouraging healthy sleep habits will help give your little one the safest and best start.

💛 Have you reached the rolling stage yet?

It’s worth remembering that as babies grow and become more mobile, crawling, cruising, walking and exploring naturally use more energy and can leave them feeling more tired. When they’re younger, they may not get the same kind of physical tiredness, but they still benefit hugely from gentle stimulation and opportunities to take in the world around them.

Did you know that something as simple as sitting beneath a tree can be fascinating for a baby? 🍃

The movement of the leaves, the changing light, the sounds of the wind and birds all provide gentle sensory stimulation.

You don’t always need expensive toys or busy activities. Sometimes the most magical moments happen outdoors, watching the world go by through your baby’s eyes. A walk in the fresh air or time spent outside can be just as enriching as a structured class, as your baby takes in new sights, sounds and experiences.

And as a bonus, fresh air and natural daylight can help support your little one’s developing body clock too. 🌙

What’s your baby’s favourite thing to watch outside? 💚

“4 months old and already discovering her own way to self-soothe 💕”

One of the amazing developments we often see around this age is babies finding ways to comfort themselves. In this clip, she’s calmly sucking her thumb as she drifts off to sleep on her play mat.

Self-soothing is simply a baby’s ability to find comfort and settle themselves. Some babies develop this skill naturally, while others need a little more time and support.

Every baby is different, but it’s lovely to see this little one finding her own way to wind down. 🌙

If your little one is still waking frequently overnight, struggling to settle, or naps feel unpredictable, remember that sleep challenges are incredibly common.

If you’d like some personalised support, feel free to send me a message. I’d be happy to help. 💛

Heading off on holiday soon? ☀️✈️

Here’s how I can help make sleep feel less stressful while you’re away 💫

Helping with everything from travel days and naps on the go, to room sharing, bedtime routines away from home, early waking, and getting sleep back on track once you return ✨

Or perhaps you’re simply needing some support at home right now. If your little one is waking multiple times a night and you’re feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and unsure where to start, I can help.

I always think when you’re choosing the right sleep consultant, whether that’s for night nannying or sleep training, it’s so important to get a feel for the person behind the service 💫

I trained as a nanny many years ago at Norland, and after having my three children, I stepped away from nannying and naturally moved into sleep support. I was meeting so many families who felt exhausted, overwhelmed, and unsure how to get their little ones’ sleep back on track, and I just knew I wanted to help.

I absolutely love what I do. Supporting families through such a challenging time and seeing the transformation in both parents and little ones is incredibly rewarding. I’ve met some amazing families along the way, and often still see them out and about in Harrogate, which is always so special when they come over to say hello and share how much things have improved 🤍

Over the past couple of years, I’ve also had the privilege of working closely with some wonderful clients. For one lovely family, I now help out with daytime nannying for their two little ones. It’s busy, full-on, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I feel so lucky to be able to combine both nannying and sleep support.

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me outdoors. Horse riding is my favourite way to switch off and reset. I love being around my animals, and spending time with my family and friends whenever I can.

Thank you so much for being here and following along, it really does mean a lot 💛

First Forest School experience this morning with 🌿✨

The nearly 2-year-old was off exploring straight away—walking everywhere, tripping over a few tree roots (as you do 😂), and fully embracing it… mud and all. By the end, completely covered, which just shows how much fun was had (and I somehow ended up muddy too 🙈).

As a sleep consultant, I love seeing little ones get this kind of outdoor, active play—fresh air, freedom, and space to explore really does wonders for their sleep later on in the day ✨

Baby sister snoozed at the beginning, then woke up halfway for a little look around like “what did I miss?” 👀

Such a beautiful first experience ….calm, adventurous, and full of simple joy 💚 We’ll definitely be back, and I’d 100% recommend Born of the Forest to anyone thinking about Forest School! Thank you 🙏🏻

Sunshine, fresh air, and happy little explorers 🌿☀️

Today we swapped routine for a spontaneous farm day …and it was SO worth it. Watching little legs totter around, eyes wide at the animals, and giggles in the play park reminded me of something I always tell families…

Routine is important ~ but so is flexibility 🤍

One off day won’t undo everything you’ve built. If naps are a bit all over the place, that’s okay. Buggy naps, shorter naps, later naps… life happens. The beauty of a good routine is that you can always come back to it the next day.

Consistency doesn’t mean perfection ~ it means having a rhythm you can return to.

So say yes to the day out. Embrace the memories. And give yourself permission to let things be a little “off plan” sometimes ✨
