The Blackhall and Peterlee Practice currently comprises four partners working from two surgery sites, i.e. Blackhall Community Health Centre at Blackhall and Peterlee Community Hospital, Peterlee. The sites are situated near to the coastline between Hartlepool, Sunderland and Durham with easy access to Newcastle, Durham, the North York Moors and Pennines. In May 2001 we moved into a new purpose bu
ilt Health Centre partly funded by the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust and in 2006 this was further extended. As well as having 11 consulting rooms, three nurse consulting rooms and spacious administration space, the building also has physiotherapy, chiropody, counselling, child health, health visitor and district nurse accommodation. Peterlee - is a rather nomadic and transient New Town. The surgery is based within the Peterlee Community Hospital and is a very modern site dealing with a wider cross section of the population with people moving to Peterlee not only from different parts of the country but different parts of the world with the introduction of many foreign companies into the industrial estates. The atmosphere at all sites, whilst very caring and efficient, is also very informal and we feel there is an excellent working relationship between all disciplines. The two sites are approximately 3 miles apart. Both sites work as one large practice, with a corporate image and the same high standard of services available at any site. The nursing staff work between the two sites ensuring Chronic Disease clinics are offered to all the patients.
