With our experience and planning we aim to conduct the funeral of your loved one with dignity and respect that your loved one deserves, we are dedicated professionals caring for the deceased and the bereaved family. We understa

nd that everyone who suffers bereavement whether it is sudden or expected, will go through all the emotions of sadness, pain, hurt and distress, along with many other feelings. There is never a "right" time for someone to pass away, when the time comes to say farewell to your loved one, it will be one of the hardest things that you will have to do. There is nothing that can prepare us for that time in our lives when we feel that we have been robbed of our love one. We are here to help, support and guide you and your family throughout this sad and difficult time. What we aim to achieve is to take away some of the burden that bereavement can leave behind, and allow you to grieve with your family, whilst we carry out the funereal arrangements for your loved one. Together we can transform bereavement into a celebration of a unique and wonderful life. Once you contact us to arrange the funeral of your loved one. We will either visit you at the family home or one of our private arrangement rooms within our premises, we like to offer a very personal service getting to know each family and tailoring the needs and wishes for the funeral of their loved one, just one person will look after you all the way through, and be there for you on the day of the funeral. We aim to allow you to make informed choices regarding the funeral arrangements, we won't hurry you we are good listeners, we may also be able to suggest some little touches you had not thought about, we like to bring a personal touch to even the simplest funeral and provide good value for money. We aim to provide and create a meaningful and memorable funeral ceremony.

We have been made aware and are currently facing our own issues with Rick Kinsella of Graveside Memorials regarding headstones.

We at Joel D Kerr funeral services are not affiliated with either Rick Kinsella or Graveside Memorials. Going forward, we will not be recommending any work to this company. We have nothing to do with this company from this point.

The Crafty C**k Bikers would once again like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Joel D. Kerr Funeral Services for your continued generosity and unwavering support of our charity events, particularly our recent Coast to Coast off-road cycle ride from Whitehaven to Seaton Carew in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance Service.

The support of sponsors such as yourselves makes events like these possible. Without your generosity, we simply could not continue to organise and undertake these challenges in support of such worthy causes. Please accept our sincere gratitude for once again standing behind us.

A little about this year’s challenge…
The team departed from the Crafty C**k Bar & Kitchen on the afternoon of Thursday 23rd July 2026, travelling to Whitehaven ready for an early start the following morning. Over the next two and a half days, the riders covered an incredible 158 miles across some of the toughest off-road terrain in the country. The route climbed over mountains, crossed remote moorland and followed rugged trails that, at times, seemed more suited to mountain goats than mountain bikes!

The challenge was made even more demanding when one of our riders suffered a serious fall on a rock-strewn descent, going over the handlebars and breaking his arm in several places. Despite this unfortunate incident, and after ensuring he received the medical attention he needed, the remaining riders continued the journey—one man down but with their determination undiminished.

The following days brought more demanding climbs, thick hill fog, elevations of up to 1,904 feet, and temperatures as low as 6°C. Thanks to months of preparation, grit and teamwork, every remaining rider successfully completed the challenge, arriving in Seaton Carew on the afternoon of Sunday 26th July 2026.
They crossed the finish line tired, sore, bruised and more than a little saddle-weary—but immensely proud of what had been achieved together.

At the time of writing, the ride has raised £3,095 for the Great North Air Ambulance Service, with further donations still being received. We are hopeful the final total will exceed £3,500, making a meaningful contribution to a charity that provides a truly life-saving service across the North East.

Following the event, the Great North Air Ambulance Service wrote to us to say:
“I just wanted to say a huge congratulations on completing such an incredible challenge. Taking on something of that scale is no small achievement, and we are so grateful that you chose to do it in support of The Great North Air Ambulance Service.

Thank you so much for all the time, effort, and dedication you put into both your training and fundraising. Your support is making a real difference. Every pound you have raised helps our critical care teams respond quickly, deliver advanced treatment at the scene, and give patients the very best chance when it matters most. We simply could not continue our lifesaving work without people like you.”

Those words remind us exactly why we undertake these challenges. However, they also reflect the invaluable contribution made by our sponsors. Without the continued generosity of organisations such as Joel D. Kerr Funeral Services, these fundraising events simply would not be possible.

From everyone at the Crafty C**k Bikers, thank you once again for your continued support, encouragement and generosity over the years. We are proud to have you as one of our valued sponsors and look forward to working together on future adventures in aid of deserving charities.

Recent news from Hull has understandably raised concerns about the care and standards families should expect from a funeral director. We ourselves are shocked and saddened that this has happened to these families.

At Joel D Kerr Funeral, we are proud to be a National Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) member and part of a community of independent funeral directors committed to professional and compassionate care.

We are regularly inspected and voluntarily regulated under the UK Funeral Director Code. Families also have access to an independent complaints process through SAIF, delivered by an externally audited and Chartered Trading Standards Institute-certified body.

We hope these safeguards offer added reassurance that families and their loved ones will be treated with care, dignity and respect.
