Satya invites us to live a little closer to what feels true.

To notice when we say yes but mean no.
When we shrink ourselves to fit.
When we ignore what we already know deep down.

Truthfulness isn’t only about the words we speak to others it’s about being honest with ourselves too 💚

MORE THAN MOVEMENT | The Yamas & Niyamas 🌿

Yoga is so much more than the shapes we make on our mats.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing a little more about the Yamas & Niyamas, the first two limbs of the Eight Limbs of Yoga and teachings that invite us to take our practice beyond the physical.

We begin with the Yamas, five principles that guide how we move through the world, our relationships and the way we use our energy.

And then the Niyamas five practices that turn our awareness inward, towards our relationship with ourselves.

10 teachings.
10 opportunities to pause, reflect and practise yoga beyond the asana.

Starting with the first Yama… Ahimsa: non-harming, compassion & kindness. 🤍

Because yoga has always been more than movement.

The mind will think.
It will wander.
It will judge.
It will worry.

Yoga doesn’t ask us to stop thinking. It invites us to witness our thoughts without being carried away by them.

“Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind.” Yoga Sūtra 1.2

A gentle reminder to come back to your breath, your body, and the present moment. 🤍

Aparigraha (non-attachment)

Aparigraha is the practice of letting go.

Not disconnecting. Not becoming indifferent. Just noticing where we’re holding on too tightly, and loosening that grip.

On outcomes.
On people.
On identities.
On who we think we need to be.

It’s releasing control where we don’t actually have it. Letting things move as they are. Not forcing them into place.

Aparigraha is the moment we stop gripping what was never meant to be held so tightly. The exhale after effort. The unclenching in the body and mind.

I’m still learning this.

Seeing how much of my reactions are shaped by conditioning and past experience, and not needing to fix it, just noticing it.

And slowly, softening.

Because in that softening, there’s more space.

🙏✨

Balance isn’t something you find, it’s something you practice. In yoga, we learn that steadiness is not the absence of movement, but the ability to remain present within it💚
