While we are blessed with such wonderful summer weather we have been taking trips up to the Punch bowl a National Trust beauty spot close to Shottermill. Yesterday it was so clear we were able to see the London skyscrapers from Gibbet Hill! We spotted the Brass plaque telling us how many feet we were above the A3 tunnel.

Enjoying summer on the farm! A request for a family member to see some beloved donkeys led to a trip to Millars Ark, sheep, chickens, piglets, donkeys, horses were just some of the animals that could be petted. Anne said she had a smashing time!

The Sunflowers have been enjoying the sunshine and while some have opened, others are still growing...so the Spring Fair competition continues! Two of our family members enjoyed inspecting the vegetable plot and to their surprise the pumpkin has the name of the home on it. We have been complaining of the lack of success of our beans this year, though the tomatoes are starting to ripen and courgettes have been regularly put in the soup. If you have any tips or tricks to make our beans produce more then please let us know!

On Tuesday we were given a trug full of sweet peas to enjoy around the home. The vibrant pink changes to a purple. We have thoroughly enjoyed this floral gift from our volunteers Mary and Chris! Helen helped to arrange the flowers into vases for all to enjoy :-) 🌸🥰

Last Friday we said goodbye to the last group of eleven children from year 6. Through the last school year we have had fifty one children visit our homes to play board games. We have had a lot of laughter and fun with the children, after the summer holidays they will be heading off to secondary school and we will be gaining a new year 6 group. We presented the children with a certificate for all they have learnt and being good companions to our family members.
