We would like to say a few thank yous for very generous donations toward our newly refurbished area, ‘The Link’ at Friary Gardeners. 😃

To Brown & Brown, our wonderful insurance brokers for paying for new flooring to be installed Brown & Brown | Insurance & Risk Management.

To the Francis and Eric Ford Charitable Trust for an incredible donation which paid for all our soft furnishings and kitchen items

To Geoff and Gerry who kindly donated the huge sofa and armchair – they’re very comfy indeed!

The Link will be used by members from all departments at Parchment Trust for a variety of purposes, but mainly as a place to meet friends, connect with the wider community and find new ways to help each other in both life and work. The space is fully accessible, so everyone can enjoy it together.

Members recently went shopping with our Chief Executive Sara to choose soft furnishings and kitchen items. Didn’t they do well – we think it looks lovely and everyone is really looking forward to using the space. 👏

Exploring the world around him 🌷💛

Harry has been enjoying some wonderful sensory experiences recently, from taking in the colours and surroundings of the tulip fields to spending time up close with a very curious chicken.

Opportunities to explore different environments, textures, sounds and experiences are a great way to support wellbeing, connection and engagement with the world around us 🌿

International Friends Day 💛

Relationships and connection are at the heart of what we do at Parchment Trust, and we’re lucky to see friendships grow every day across our services.

Whether it’s sharing activities, supporting one another, having a laugh together or simply spending time alongside each other, these connections make such a difference to wellbeing and belonging.

Many of our members meet socially in the community during evenings and weekends and support each other with their independence. Often on a Saturday, members of the Co-op meet up in Bexhill for a coffee and a panini.

Today we’re celebrating the friendships and community that make Parchment Trust such a special place and help prevent loneliness 😀

Working towards independence 💛

Josh has been building his confidence around planning and preparing his own lunch, with a goal of independently buying ingredients and cooking for himself.

From using the self-checkout to preparing a meal of sausage, mash and broccoli, this was a great achievement and an important step towards everyday independence and life skills.

Well done — it looks delicious too 🌿

Byron The Plant Whisperer 🍅🌿

Byron has been busy working towards his goal of growing and nurturing tomato plants, to then make the ultimate tomato soup. As well as helping maintain the front garden at The Hub with real care and dedication, he has watered and tended to the plants to make sure they are looking their best.
It’s clear these plants are in very good hands — and maybe the gentle whispers of encouragement help too! 💛

Well done Byron, we can't wait to taste it 👏

International Joke Day 😂

A day that was made for our resident stand up comic - Bazza!! 👨‍🦰

Most of us have heard Barry's classics a number of times over the years, catching us out with his pointing to undone laces when you are wearing sandals or the classic panto tactic of "he's behind you". A couple of his most famous lines are...

"How d'you get a woodpecker - armadillo" 🤷‍♂️
"What d'you get when you pour hot water down a rabbit hole - hot cross bunnies" 🐰

Well this one is just for you Bazza!...Why did the gas pump break up with the car - because it felt empty inside.......😉

Bluebell walks in Arlington Woods 🌿💙

Some of our members recently enjoyed a lovely walk amongst the bluebells in Arlington Woods, taking time to enjoy the fresh air, nature and each other’s company.

Spending time outdoors, exploring new places and sharing experiences together are such an important part of wellbeing and connection — and the bluebells made it even more special🪻

Composting Day 🌿

At both the Co-op allotment and Friary Gardeners, members have been learning more about composting and the importance of reusing natural materials to support growing and sustainability.

A special mention goes to David, who independently sourced manure from a local lady called Helen, advertising it for free on Facebook. Since then, he has continued to build that relationship, and we’re now regularly welcomed back to collect more for the allotment and gardens.

David said "I feel good about myself and confident that I was able to speak to Helen and collect the manure".

Well done David for taking the initiative and building such a positive community connection — and a big thank you to the Helen for all your kindness and support 💛
