Carer’s Week !
This week, we would like to take a moment to celebrate and thank our incredible care team.

Your kindness, compassion, patience, and dedication make a difference every single day. You provide comfort, support, laughter, and friendship to our residents, helping to make our care home a place where people truly feel valued, safe, and cared for.

The work you do is not always easy, but it is always appreciated. Your commitment goes far beyond your job title, and without each and every one of you, our home simply would not be the wonderful place it is today.

As a small token of our gratitude, we enjoyed tea, cakes, and surprise gifts together today. It was our way of saying thank you for everything you do and for the positive impact you have on the lives of our residents and their families.

We are incredibly proud of our team and grateful to have such caring, hardworking, and dedicated people with us.

Thank you for all that you do – today, during Care Careers Week, and every day of the year.

We would like to take a moment to appreciate the stunning rose garden here at The Laurels. The vibrant colours, beautiful blooms, and wonderful fragrances are a daily reminder of the care and dedication that goes into maintaining our grounds.

A special thank you goes to our talented gardener, whose hard work and passion help keep our gardens looking so beautiful throughout the seasons.

Our gardens are much more than just a lovely place to look at. Many of our residents enjoy taking part in gardening activities, from watering plants and sowing seeds to helping care for flowers and watching them grow. These sessions provide a wonderful opportunity to spend time outdoors, stay active, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

There is something truly special about spending a sunny morning or relaxing afternoon surrounded by blooming roses and colourful flowers.

We are very fortunate to have such beautiful gardens for everyone to enjoy, and we look forward to seeing them continue to flourish throughout the summer.

We’d like to share some wonderful memories from Doreen’s special Cliff Richard-themed birthday celebration on 4th June.

As a devoted Cliff Richard fan, Doreen was delighted to see the lounge transformed with Cliff Richard bunting, photographs, and decorations dedicated to her favourite musician. We also arranged a very special Cliff Richard-themed birthday cake, created especially for her big day.

Our residents and team worked hard to make the occasion extra special, creating beautiful handmade birthday cards and presenting Doreen with some lovely gifts. Seeing her smile as she opened them was truly heartwarming.

The celebration continued with everyone singing along to some of Cliff Richard’s best-loved songs, filling the lounge with music, laughter, and happy memories. Residents enjoyed spending time together while sharing birthday cake and refreshments from the Fizzy Trolley.

It was a lovely afternoon full of friendship, music, and celebration, and we are so pleased that we could help make Doreen’s birthday one to remember.

Happy Birthday, Doreen! We hope you had a wonderful day surrounded by people who care about you and all things Cliff Richard!

Celebrating 20 Wonderful Years of Laurels Care Centre!

What a truly special day as we came together to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Laurels Care Centre.

Residents, families, staff, and guests enjoyed a wonderful afternoon filled with laughter, friendship, and celebration. Our tables were beautifully prepared with an abundance of delicious food and refreshments, creating the perfect atmosphere for everyone to come together and mark this important milestone.

A highlight of the day was the ceremonial planting of our 20th Anniversary Rose by the Home Owner and Management Team, symbolising growth, care, and the many memories created at Laurels over the past two decades.

No celebration would be complete without cake, and we were delighted to share a truly gigantic anniversary cake with everyone.

We were also treated to a fantastic musical performance by The Funky Fiddler, whose wonderful entertainment had everyone smiling and enjoying the occasion.

Thank you to all our residents, families, colleagues, and friends who have been part of the Laurels journey over the last 20 years. Your support, kindness, and dedication have helped make Laurels the warm and caring community it is today.

Here’s to celebrating our past, cherishing the present, and looking forward to many more happy years ahead.

Our residents had a wonderful morning creating beautiful floral centrepieces to decorate the lounge and dining tables.

This enjoyable activity offered valuable sensory benefits, allowing residents to touch the flowers and foliage, explore different textures, and enjoy the fresh floral scents. The activity encouraged creativity, conversation, and reminiscence while bringing everyone together in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

The finished arrangements look absolutely beautiful and have added a lovely touch of colour and elegance to our communal spaces for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you to all our residents who took part and helped create these stunning displays. We are so proud of what they achieved, and we know the arrangements will brighten everyone’s day.

Person-Centred Room Visit

Today we spent some lovely one-to-one time with one of our residents, enjoying a simple but meaningful crochet activity together.

Although she wasn’t crocheting herself, she thoroughly enjoyed helping by holding the yarn, untangling knots, and passing it over when needed. These small moments brought so much joy and engagement, and her smile said it all.

The activity seemed to spark comforting memories from years gone by, perhaps reminding her of helping her mum or grandmother with their knitting and crochet projects as a child. Whether it was the feel of the yarn in her hands or the familiar rhythm of the activity, it was wonderful to see how happy and involved she became.

Person-centred care is about recognising that meaningful experiences are different for everyone. Sometimes the simplest activities can bring the greatest sense of purpose, connection, and happiness.

A Day of Celebration, Farewells and New Beginnings 🌿👑

Last Friday, we came together to celebrate Beer Garden Day with a very special event filled with laughter, friendship, and unforgettable memories.

It was a bittersweet occasion as we said goodbye to our much-loved Deputy Manager, Louise. Louise has been an important part of our home and will be greatly missed by residents, families, and colleagues alike. We would like to thank her for all her hard work, kindness, dedication, and support over the years, and we wish her every happiness and success on the exciting journey ahead. ❤️

At the same time, we welcomed a new chapter with a fun and creative coronation ceremony for our new Deputy Manager, Jamie. Complete with a crown, royal robes, and plenty of smiles, the ceremony brought lots of laughter and excitement as Jamie officially took on his new role. 👑

As always, our residents, families, and staff came together to make the day truly special. From sharing stories, to enjoying delicious treats and celebrating together, the sense of community was felt by everyone.

Thank you to all who joined us and helped create such a warm, joyful, and memorable occasion. Here’s to cherishing wonderful memories with Louise and creating many new ones with Jamie.

This morning, one of our residents enjoyed a one-to-one flower arranging activity in the garden, creating these beautiful floral centrepieces using fresh blooms and greenery.

The stunning arrangements were later displayed in our lounge and dining areas, bringing colour, fragrance, and a touch of summer indoors for everyone to enjoy. Residents and staff alike admired the beautiful creations, which helped brighten the atmosphere and sparked many lovely conversations throughout the day.

One-to-one activities provide valuable opportunities for meaningful engagement, creativity, and personal achievement, while also bringing joy to the wider home community.

A wonderful morning, a beautiful display, and plenty of smiles all around.
