Celebrating Onam & Raksha Bandhan at The Laurels!

What a wonderful day we had today at The Laurels Care Centre, celebrating the vibrant traditions and cultures of India!

Our residents, staff members and families came together dressed in beautiful Indian traditional outfits, making the day extra colourful and special. We enjoyed playing games, dancing, tasting delicious Indian sweets, and learning more about the wonderful traditions and meaning behind Onam and Raksha Bandhan.

It was a lovely day filled with laughter, togetherness, music, culture and happy memories.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped make our celebrations so joyful and memorable. Your enthusiasm and smiles truly made the day special!

What a fantastic Summer Fête 2025 we had at The Laurels Care Centre! 🌸🎶

We want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who came along, joined in the fun, bought raffle tickets, made donations, volunteered, helped out, and supported us in so many ways.

Thanks to your incredible generosity and community spirit, we are absolutely delighted to have raised £489.24 for our Home & Activities Team!

Every penny raised will help us create even more wonderful moments, activities and experiences for our amazing residents.

From all of us at The Laurels Care Centre — our residents, families and staff — you are all absolutely amazing!

🌟🌟🌟Games, photo booth & memories! 🌟🌟🌟

What a fabulous time we had at The Laurels Summer Fête! 🌞💗

The day was filled with fun and laughter, from exciting competitions and our raffle with fantastic prizes, to the ever-popular Guess the Weight of the Cake competition! 🎂⚖️🏆

And of course, no celebration would be complete without plenty of fun in the photo booth! 📸🎭 We loved seeing everyone get involved, strike a pose and create some wonderful memories together! 😍

Our Grease-themed fête was full of music, costumes, food, games, laughter and fun — but most importantly, it brought our residents, families, staff and wider community together for a truly special day. 💕✨

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, helped make the day possible and got into the Grease spirit! 🎶💃🕺

🎤🎶 YOU’RE THE ONE THAT WE WANT! 🎶🎤

The fun continued at The Laurels Summer Fête with an amazing day packed full of music, entertainment, food and fabulous stalls! 🌞🎉

We enjoyed a fantastic live musical performance and live music, creating the perfect soundtrack to our Grease-themed celebration! 🎵💃🕺

There was something delicious for everyone, including tasty food, refreshing drinks, cake, milkshakes, popcorn and candy floss! 🍰🥤🍿🍭

Our Grease-themed stalls were also a huge hit, with fabulous T-shirts and accessories available to help everyone show off their Pink Ladies and T-Birds style! 💗🖤✨

And of course, there were plenty of raffles with lots of fantastic prizes to be won! 🎟️🎁

It was a wonderful day filled with music, laughter, delicious treats and lots of community spirit! 💕📸

🎶✨ GREASE IS THE WORD! ✨🎶

What an amazing day we had at The Laurels Summer Fête! 🌞🎉 This year’s fête was full of 1950s-style fun with a fantastic Grease musical theme! 💃🕺

Our residents, families, staff and visitors all got into the spirit of the day, dressing up as the fabulous Pink Ladies 💗 and cool T-Birds 🖤 — and we have to say, everyone looked absolutely amazing! 😍

There were some fantastic outfits on display, and our dress-up competitions brought plenty of laughter, smiles and friendly competition! 🏆✨

With lots of games, competitions and fun to be had, the atmosphere was electric from start to finish! 🎉

🏴‍☠️⚓ Ahoy, me hearties! ⚓🏴‍☠️

This week at The Laurels, straight after celebrating Germany Day, we sailed straight into a swashbuckling pirate adventure! 🏴‍☠️🌊

Our residents enjoyed a whole host of pirate-themed activities as we got ready to celebrate Hastings Pirate Day. We made our very own pirate hats, discovered our funny pirate names, and explored pirate history along with some fascinating facts about the world of pirates. 🗺️📜

Our sensory activity was a real treasure hunt, as residents dug through pirate sand to discover hidden treasure! 💰💎 We made colourful pirate flags, played pirate games, listened to and sang pirate songs, and even decorated delicious pirate-themed cupcakes! 🧁🏴‍☠️

There was plenty of laughter throughout the week, with lots of smiles and wonderful moments shared together. Our very own pirate crew even visited residents in their rooms, spreading cheer, cheering everyone up, and getting everyone into the spirit of celebrating Hastings Pirate Day! ❤️🏴‍☠️

Germany Day at The Laurels
What a fantastic Germany Day we had yesterday at The Laurels!
A huge thank you to our wonderful nurse and Activities Team member, Tatjana, who comes from Germany and was delighted to share stories about her hometown with everyone. She introduced us to the beautiful tradition of the famous Three Rabbits stained glass church window, and together we had lots of fun creating our own versions during our arts and crafts session.
We also enjoyed an interesting presentation and slideshow from Paul, who shared fascinating facts about Germany. Residents loved singing along to German songs, having a go at yodelling, and dancing together – there were plenty of smiles and laughter all around!
Of course, no Germany Day would be complete without some delicious German food! Dinner was traditional German, and everyone enjoyed sampling a selection of traditional German treats, making the celebration even more authentic and enjoyable.
To make the day even more special, our Activities Team dressed in traditional German outfits, helping to bring the culture to life and creating a wonderful atmosphere for everyone.
It was a brilliant day filled with learning, creativity, music, dancing, delicious food, and wonderful memories. A big thank you to everyone who helped make our Germany Day such a fantastic celebration!

What a wonderful week we’ve had at our home!
Our residents have been busy enjoying a fantastic variety of activities, creating lots of smiles, laughter, and special memories together.
We explored all our senses with a range of sensory activities, including beautiful scents, sensory toys, different textures, taste experiences, omni-sensory smart games, and relaxing sound therapy. The gentle sounds of the bar chimes were a huge success, especially during our room visits, where many residents not only enjoyed listening but were also excited to have a go at playing the chimes themselves.
Our creativity blossomed as we arranged beautiful fresh flowers together to brighten our lounges, enjoyed arts and crafts, and got busy making decorations for our upcoming Summer Fete – with a fun Grease theme!
Drama Club was full of joy thanks to our wonderful leader, Tatjana, who brought along some very special vintage puppets. They sparked wonderful conversations and brought back happy memories, with residents thoroughly enjoying seeing them during both the club and room visits.
We were delighted to welcome a lovely choir, whose beautiful singing filled our home with happiness. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a relaxing afternoon tea with plenty of chatting and laughter.
With the Wimbledon spirit in the air, we held our very own tennis match in our beautiful garden, making the most of the lovely weather. We also spent time gardening, keeping cool with refreshing ice lollies each day, and enjoying the sunshine together.
One of the happiest moments of the week was welcoming our dear Jean back home from hospital with a delicious celebration cake. It was wonderful to have her back with us!
Thank you to everyone who helped make this week so special. We can’t wait to see what adventures this week brings!
