Our motto says it all "Our Family Helping Yours" We take care of your loved ones as if they were our own. Ro

FUNERAL SUPPORT PAYMENT

Funeral Support Payment is a one-off benefit to help cover some funeral costs for residents of Scotland who are on low-income benefits. Only one person can claim the payment per funeral.

You can get a Funeral Support Payment if all of the following apply:
• you live in Scotland
• you or your partner are getting certain benefits
• the person who died lived in the UK
• the funeral is being held in the UK
• you're applying after the person has died, until 6 months after the date of their funeral
• you or your partner are responsible for the funeral costs
• it's reasonable for you or your partner to accept responsibility for the funeral costs

You or your partner must get one or more of the following:
• Universal Credit (UC)
• Income Support
• Pension Credit
• Housing Benefit
• income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA), not contribution-based JS
• income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), not contribution-based ESA

The payment can contribute to:
• Burial, cremation, or alkaline hydrolysis (water cremation) costs.
• Funeral director fees.
• Some other funeral-related expenses, depending on individual circumstances and remaining funds from the deceased.

It does not cover all funeral costs, and certain items like memorials or post-cremation arrangements may not be included.

To make an application you can call Social Security Scotland on 0800 182 2222 to make your application over the phone. An advisor can help you make your application at your own pace or you can apply online via www.mygov.scot
