Victoria Farrier has regained her independence and confidence after purchasing an Icon 60 manual wheelchair and Eco Assist powered add-on from MD Mobility Northallerton 😃👍

As a result of living with a degenerative spinal condition, Victoria underwent spinal fusion surgery which resulted in nerve damage to her legs. This means that her legs can give way at any time and for the last three years Victoria has been using a wheelchair when out and about. With three children and seven grandchildren, Victoria has always been determined to be as independent as possible.
To help her achieve this, Victoria bought an Icon 60 and Eco Assist from her local Rehasense dealer – MD Mobility in Guisborough.

Building on the success of the three current PAWS models (City, Cruiser, Tourer), the PAWS HD version is available with all three models and has an impressive maximum user weight of 160kg which means that even more wheelchair users can now benefit from the increased independence that so many PAWS users are already enjoying.👍

As with every PAWS model, the HD is available with manual clamps, auto clamps and tetra hand controls and comes with an impressive list of standard equipment. For increased range, there is a 15.6ah battery while the hill start assist provides greater confidence on inclines. When Vicky Hill was left as a full-time wheelchair user as a result of complications following major heart surgery, she was adamant she would be as independent as possible, and Vicky is achieving this thanks to her PAWS City.
Vicky has adapted to life as a full-time wheelchair user with an amazingly positive attitude.

💬Weirdly, I adjusted a lot better than I thought I would. I have been quite lucky (if you can call it that) that I don’t have many of the other complications that often come with a spinal cord injury such as bowel/ bladder problems and pain💬 explained Vicky.

When Vicky was discharged from hospital she contacted Taylor Made Wheelchairs Ltd 💬 They have been fantastic and have provided me with various pieces of equipment. When I explained that I was looking for a powered add on as I hated being pushed, they showed me several options including the PAWS💬.

After testing various models, Vicky placed an order for a PAWS City as she felt it offered the best value for money and she loved the braking system and cruise control.

💬The PAWS is just amazing. I live on quite a steep hill but now I can literally whizz up there and thanks to the cruise control I can also go down it at a walking pace which I know other people walking with me also appreciate. I think cruise control is so clever as I don’t have to keep breaking or accelerating when walking with people, which makes it much smoother especially when going downhill. I would not hesitate in recommending PAWS to any wheelchair user who wants to be able to get around without being pushed, not only is it very well built but it is also great value for money. 23-year-old Alex is dreaming of going on a solo camping holiday now she has her PAWS Tourer powered add-on 😀

Alex took delivery of her PAWS Tourer in October last year and loves it. 💬I now have more independence and confidence than ever before, and it has also done wonders for my mental health. Not having to rely on someone to push my wheelchair and knowing I have the battery life and power to get home safely is amazing, I don’t want to just look at nature, I want to enjoy it, be part of it and now I can go off road on my own without worrying. It really is hard to explain just what an amazing piece of equipment the Tourer is and what a huge difference it has made to my life ♥️ – the controls are very user friendly, and it is very easy to manoeuvre I would 100% recommend it to anyone and my friend is due to get her PAWS Cruiser soon💬 .

Alex has now signed up to volunteer at this year’s Greenbelt Festival in August. 💬This is only possible thanks to the Tourer, I also volunteer with a local girl guides group, and I can now get more involved in the outdoor activities💬.

The ultimate dream for Alex is to go on a solo camping trip around the UK. 💬The battery range is great and charging the Tourer will not be a problem as so many camp sites have electric – my main challenge is finding a suitable trailer to attach to my wheelchair so I can transport everything I will need. But I won’t be defeated so look out for my camping stories💬
