The IHRIM Executive Board is establishing an Advisory Board and is seeking enthusiastic subject matter experts in the different areas of health informatics from around the UK. This is not limited to senior people but is open to those that are passionate about their job and how it is evolving with the ever-changing landscape in health and care, and this could be in private healthcare as well as the NHS.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to help shape patient services job roles, advise the IHRIM Executive Board on upcoming policy, respond to government papers and share the experiences of what working at the coal face is like.

We are hoping to hear from you if you work in any of the following areas:
• Health records
• Inpatient and outpatient booking
• Data quality
• Information governance
• Clinical coding
• Patient access
• Records management including corporate records
• Referral Management
• Medical Secretaries
• Ward Clerks
• Receptionists
• Data Protection

Following recent cases of inappropriate access to patient records across NHS organisations, NHS England has developed this campaign to remind staff of the impact on patients and the serious consequences of this behaviour.

The objective of this campaign is to reduce inappropriate access to patient records by ensuring all NHS staff understand legal and professional consequences, recognise the real-life risks to their career and make safe decisions when handling patient data.

Following recent cases of inappropriate access to patient records across NHS organisations, NHS England has developed this campaign to remind staff of the impact on patients and the serious consequences of this behaviour.

Grooming Gangs Inquiry - Health Records and Information Governance event

Further to our post last week regarding this event in Exeter, we would like to let you know that due to circumstances beyond our control we have had to move the event date from Thursday 16 July to Tuesday 21 July 2026, we are very sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.

We have also taken on board some comments from people who are a long distance away from Exeter as to whether we could make this a hybrid event and provide an online feed as well. Our preference would always be to see people face to face in the same room but accept that some people may not be able travel.

We have also taken on board comments that part of this inquiry will be about disclosing information as well, so we are extending this to our IG colleagues.

To register for this event please email [email protected]

We are inviting you to join us in a Roundtable event in Exeter on Thursday 16th July at the Mercure Hotel; this is a free event to attend.

This event is being hosted by Restore, SynApps and FEDIP to discuss the Impact of the Grooming Gangs Inquiry on health records and the challenge that this poses, as well as discussing the recent NHS England announcement about expected professional registration.

Lunch and networking have been included giving those attending an opportunity to talk to other like-minded colleagues. As this is a Roundtable event, the numbers have been limited to 20, so this is strictly on a first come first served basis.
