Wendy enjoyed a trip to South Shields this morning as we headed out for bingo prizes and crafts for our activity cart.
We also picked up on treats for our teddy bears picnic when we will be welcoming the children into Bedewell.

Wendy enjoyed picking out items that everyone would like to win including chocolate, sweets and toiletries.

Wendy loves Halloween and was shocked but delighted to see the pumpkins on display in the shops already.
Wendy has always dressed up for Halloween and gave out sweets to the children and will be dressing up for our halloween party.

What a lovely experience we had this morning as we got up close and personal with the highland cows.

We visited Jarrow Hall which is an open air Anglo saxon living village and museum. We experienced a morning in the life of an Anglo Saxon farmer, meeting the lovely highland cows Ruh and Laddie.

The farm homes animals that are rescued and are rare breeds including Dexter bullocks which are Hardy breeds native to Ireland and were used to plough the fields during Anglo Saxon times.

Susan loved feeding and grooming the cows and told them they were in good hands as she's a trained hairdresser so knew how to get their tatts out.

We learned a lot about the farming life and found it so interesting !

Today's baking session were sweet treats as we whipped up some mini sponge cakes.

There was allot of discussion of what was on a menu on a Sunday evening as Sunday was always a day of baking apple pies, jam tarts, crumbles , cherry cakes, current pudding and lattice tarts.
Betty said rice pudding was always a Sunday pudding as everyone always cleared their bowls!

Today's group activities have been fun activities for the mind.
Bingo and quizzes are helpful, low-stress activities for people with dementia that encourage connection, gentle mental stimulation, and joyful memory recall.

Our residents have enjoyed competing for the best chocolate but also helping eachother if anyone misses a number.

Group activities give our residents time to socialise in all areas of Bedewell and helps to form friendships on our memory lane and residential floors as we like everyone to be given the option to join in activities they enjoy and feel included.

This afternoons quiz were allot of fun with Mary winning the dance quiz as she knew all the movie stars and George was out top scorer with the quiz on Yorkshire.
