We had a little pamper in the Grace Lounge today, manicures, polish or a relaxing hand & arm massage.
It was a lovely calm afternoon filled with chats, smiles, and a bit of well-deserved TLC. Everyone enjoyed being spoiled and having some time to relax and unwind.
Sometimes it’s the simple things that bring the biggest smiles 💅😊

Wow, we’ve certainly been busy here at Hawthorn Court!
With our lovely Knit & Natter group, where everyone kept busy knitting poppies while enjoying plenty of chatter. The conversation flowed as always, with lots of laughs and stories shared—especially tales of cheeky antics from school days, which had everyone giggling.
Our Mobility Matters group saw the Grace Lounge full of energy with a few rounds of catch and throw. With the World Cup kicking off, there was definitely a sporty theme to the session, and everyone got involved with great enthusiasm.
Men’s Club brought lots of fun and laughter this week with a giant game of Kerplunk. The room was full of suspense as each person carefully pulled a straw, all waiting to see who would cause the balls to come tumbling down. There were plenty of cheers, groans, and laughs along the way!
Later on, some of our residents managed to stay awake for the start of the World Cup England football match and enjoyed a little shandy while watching—making it feel like a proper match-day occasion.
To round things off, our mini bus trip took us to Bill Quay Farm, where we enjoyed spending time with the animals and chatting about our favourites. After that, we headed to The New Crown for a lovely pie and mash lunch, which went down a treat.
Another wonderful few days filled with fun, laughter, and plenty of happy memories made together. 😊

This morning, Mary and I had a little wander into Hebburn New Town for a spot of shopping. Three shops down and it was time to head back for lunch, the sun decided to make an appearance and it was lovely to feel the warmth on our faces after being out and about.
This afternoon, Barney and I headed over to The Iona – Barney’s old stomping ground. It was lovely to see a few familiar faces who remembered Barney, giving him the chance to catch up with some old pals and share a few memories. We even made it in time for the flyer! After the pub, we had a walk around Hebburn New Town where Barney spent time reflecting on just how much everything has changed since he was last there. A really lovely afternoon full of memories, conversation and nostalgia 💙

Today’s mini bus trip took us to South Shields for a visit to the New Crown, followed by a little run along the coast afterwards. With the weather being wet, cold and miserable, we decided not to let it spoil our fun and tucked into a lovely pub lunch of scampi & chips all round, with halves of lager to wash it down 🍻
There was great chat, lots of laughs and plenty of banter — even the barmaid commented that we were having far too much fun for a lunchtime 😄 After lunch, we headed along the coast towards Sunderland on the hunt for dolphins, but sadly no luck this time… only windmills and lighthouses spotted! Still, it made for a lovely drive and another great afternoon out together. 😊

Our men’s club was a busy one again with lots of laughs and banter all round. We started off with a fun game of group tennis using our extra-large bats, which certainly brought out everyone’s competitive side! 🎾 We then moved on to a few rounds of dominoes, where the friendly competition continued and the concentration levels stepped up. A great social afternoon filled with laughter, chat and plenty of fun together 😊

Our Mobility Matters session in the Grace Lounge was full of fun and movement! We enjoyed a few rounds of beanbag toss, followed by a game of 10 pin bowling 🎳, keeping those joints moving. Most importantly, there were some lovely moments of engagement, laughter and chats shared throughout the session. A great way to stay active while having lots of fun together! 😊
