When women support women amazing things happen 🩷 I am so lucky to have the incredible Kirsty from Rain or Shine Counselling in my life! The most supportive, understanding and hilarious person I know! Thank you for being you Kirsty 😘 xx
This week’s appreciation post is for Stacey at Dottir Strength and Fitness 🤍
She has created support groups for women who have experienced sexual, physical and mental abuse and I know that sounds heavy but the group is uplifting, empowering and damn right f**king hilarious at times!
We work out together, have a brew and a chat and for a couple of hours there’s this feeling of being understood without needing to explain everything. No pressure, no judgement, just women supporting women. Although, Stacey does laugh while we suffer during the workout…. All forgiven as she does play some decent bangers.
It’s a reminder that healing doesn’t always have to look serious or clinical. Sometimes it looks like laughing until your belly hurts after talking about really difficult things. Sometimes it’s movement, connection and feeling safe around people who just “get it”. The lasses I’ve met will always be a part of my life going forward. I almost feel like we rather protective of one another.
So thank you Stacey for creating such a mint, supportive environment and for the work you do. It genuinely makes a difference. 🤍 I appreciate you and love you to bits.
Bit of a vulnerable post from myself too 🥹 counsellors work on themselves too!
