On Friday 14th August it was an honour to travel to the immaculately kept Cruden Churchyard for the burial of a well known and loved member of the Helensburgh and Rhu community who was being taken home to be laid to rest beside loved ones in a beautiful corner of Aberdeenshire.

A picture perfect day at Barbour Cemetery

Every two years funeral directors from all over the United Kingdom and beyond travel to Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire for the National Funeral Exhibition. It’s a great opportunity to meet with suppliers and colleagues. It was great to spend time catching up with friends from the Orkney Islands, Derby, Norwich and Island of Bute and many places in between.

It was an absolute honour to work with Rev. Margaret McArthur these past ten years. The comfort and support she brought to so many families at their darkest hour was immense.

Today we were in the village of Luss on the banks of Loch Lomond caring for a well loved and known villager who had lived in the village for over sixty years. Christians though have been gathering to worship and bury their dead at this spot since around 510ad. There is even a Viking grave in the churchyard dating from around 1260.
