Over the weekend, I completed my training and certification as a Cold Water Facilitator with The UKās Leading Cold Water Facilitator Course | STA Endorsed - the only UK course endorsed by the STA.
But this post isn't about me. Itās about you as a midlife woman, wanting to try out cold water immersion.
Because right now, as the water starts turning colder, I'm watching the āice brosā ramp up their content:
"Get in, see what your mind is capable of, become harder to break, all grit and resolve," and not one word about what's actually happening in a woman's body in water below 10°C.
Our thresholds for when our body reacts to cold are different to men. Our hormones shift how we respond day to day, week to week, decade to decade.
None of that is covered in a "just get in and breathe through it" protocol built on male physiology.
That's not a small gap. That's the difference between a cold water practice that regulates your nervous system and leaves you glowing for the rest of the day, and cold water that tips you into shock because nobody watching knew what to look for.
So hereās the question I want you to sit with before you get in the water for the first time this autumn:
Who do you want next to you?
Someone who just wants to watch you prove how much you can take?
Or someone trained and certified by the UKās leading training course, and who knows your body isnāt a smaller version of a manās?
You, your health, and your body deserve the last one.
