💬 Therapy is no longer something people whisper about
Across the UK, attitudes towards therapy are changing. More people than ever are recognising that looking after their mental health is just as important as looking after their physical health. The stigma that once surrounded counselling is slowly being replaced with understanding, openness, and acceptance.
Yet one question still comes up regularly:
"Why does therapy cost so much?"
It's understandable to consider the financial commitment. But when you invest in therapy, you're not simply paying for 50 minutes in a room or on a video call.
You're investing in years of professional training, ongoing supervision, continuous professional development, ethical practice, insurance, accreditation, and the expertise required to hold space for some of life's most difficult conversations.
Most therapists don't enter this profession to become wealthy. They do it because they genuinely care about helping people navigate grief, anxiety, trauma, relationships, loss, identity, self-esteem, and life's many challenges.
Therapy offers something that can be difficult to find elsewhere: a confidential, non-judgemental space that is entirely focused on you. A space where you don't need to be strong, have all the answers, or worry about burdening others.
The value of therapy isn't measured by the price of a session. It's measured by the sleepless nights that become manageable, the healthier relationships that develop, the confidence that grows, the patterns that finally make sense, and the freedom that comes from understanding yourself more deeply.
Many people spend years struggling alone before reaching out. Often, their only regret is not doing it sooner.
If you've been thinking about therapy but haven't taken that first step, consider this your reminder: seeking support isn't a sign of weakness. It's an investment in yourself, your wellbeing, and your future.
Here at Cherry Tree Therapy Centre Henley we provide full-cost and low-cost options. You deserve support too 🌳
