Whether it’s brands adding extra protein to their products or a new range of organic foods on the shelves just drives the price up and makes your shopping bill if you buy into it - sky rocket.

But I’m here to tell you that you don’t need to be buying all the spenny brands, you can cheap it out where you can, give you more cash in your pocket and still make positive steps forward with your health and fitness goals.

Won’t catch me buying the branded version of baked beans or Weetabix when the store version is the exact same and half the price.

Although I am defo a princess when it comes to my coco pops🙅🏻‍♂️ somethings I just can’t sacrifice 😂

Save this for your next food shop and let me know how much you save by not buying the brands.

Dm me ‘BUDGET’ and we’ll go over where we can save you some pennies while getting you on your way to your fitness goals through nutrition 🤝

Supps explained episode 2: Caffeine ☕️

Today we discussed the use of caffeine as a performance enhancing supplement.

Something a lot of consume daily but I bet rarely use directly for exercise performance.

We covered the science behind its effectiveness, the dosage and timings of supplementation (dos and don’ts for that matter) and went over who can benefit from using caffeine.

The fact that this video is nearly 3 minutes long and I know I’ve still got so much more I could elaborate on here shows the extent of how useful caffeine can be as an ergogenic aid.

Do you use caffeine before your workouts or just as a boost to get you through the morning? Let me know in the comments 👇🏻

Double days training - Full day of eating 🍽️

I rarely do these because everyone’s diet looks different and don’t want people to just copy and paste what I do as we all have different needs.

But I sent a double day of training today and wanted to highlight what I do around my sessions to ensure I am fuelling and recovering well.

After the attempted zone 2 run this morning it is key that we focus on refuelling at last 1g-1.2g/kg per hour of carbs to refill the tank (muscle glycogen stores).

If we don’t take this seriously this can result in us not meeting the demands of the second session of the day and not achieving the desired stimulus.

Train on that second session without focusing on your refuelling and starting the session on low carbs and you’ll likely feel more strain on the body which can lead to injury if not you’re careful.

There’s research as well that shows if don’t get enough carbs in after a glycogen depleting session in the morning, the adaptation markers from the cardio session can negatively influence the body’s muscle building pathway - so eat your carbs boys and girls.

Given my body weight atm I am just over 8g/kg for carbs for the day which is a good spot to be in for over 2 hours total training.

Protein is always a little higher on double days, stretch it to 2.2g/kg to support extra work done.

Keep my diet colourful throughout the rest of the day and we’re set for a good nights kip after that skyr bowl.

Save this if you need to take your double days training nutrition more seriously and send it to a friend who you know is always underfuelling!

Which side do you fall on?

Are you a foodie or are you a groundhoggar?

Think it’s important for both characters to take traits from the other.

The groundhog who eats the exact same meals everyday could do with providing themselves more variety in their meals to ensure that they give their body the diversity it needs to be healthy.

The foodies out there could benefits from having some of the groundhogs structure, providing themselves some staple meals they can stick to provide them some consistency with their nutrition, rather than every meal being something different and too hard to maintain.

I definitely sway towards groundhog vibes.

I have my staples across the day, know what they’ll provide me and I like them enough to keep going back without getting board.

It’s when I get to the evening that I jazz things up and look forward to something different each day and keeps me entertained on the food front 🤝

Where would you say you lie on this spectrum? Let me know in the comments 👇🏻

Big shoutout to my client Maddox who smashed his camp and put on a performance the next day to get his first win in MMA back in July 🥊

Maddox was training hard with a physical job and had a fight coming up in 6 weeks and wanted to make sure he ticked every box as he stepped back in the ring.

Took to the routine with his nutrition like a pro, training felt better than ever and made weight with ease.

Took away any of the uncertainty about being able to make weight while still being able to perform in his sessions.

We made weight, fuelled up for tomorrow’s fight and then let the hard work done in training do the talking.

First round stoppage in less than a minute 💨

Pleasure to work with Maddox and want to wish him the best of his next venture down under 🥝

Want to take the guess work out of your nutrition for your next camp?

Allow you to focus solely on your training?

Drop us a message and we’ll go over how we make that possible for you 🤝
