☀️ Stay safe in the sun this summer! A little sunshine is great for our wellbeing but protecting your skin is just as important.

Remember to wear SPF 30+, cover up, seek shade during the hottest part of the day and stay hydrated.

Sunburn and heat exhaustion can happen even in the UK, so take a few simple steps to look after yourself and your family.

Protect your skin. Protect your health. 💛

☀️ Sun safety starts with simple steps. ☀️
As the weather warms up again and children spend more time outdoors, it's important to help protect them from the harmful effects of UV rays.

By making sun safety part of your family's daily routine, you're helping to protect your child's skin now and in the future.

🌞 With temperatures soaring during the current heatwave, many children and young people may be tempted to cool off in rivers, lakes, reservoirs and other open water.

⚠️ Open water can be dangerous, even in hot weather. Hidden currents, cold water shock, deep water and unseen hazards can quickly turn dangerous.

💧Please take a few minutes to talk to your children and teenagers about staying safe around water and share our water safety leaflet with family and friends.

💙 Let's work together to keep everyone safe this summer. ☀️

Great day at Ross-on-Wye PRIDE today! 🌈 We spoke with lots of young people about emotional wellbeing, sexual health, and provided free condoms to support our community. We also had some inspiring conversations about careers in the NHS. Thank you to everyone who came over for a chat and helped make the day such a positive event.

🌈 Pride Month 🌈

This Pride Month we're celebrating the wonderful diversity that makes our communities stronger.

Every child and young person deserves to feel safe, accepted and proud of who they are. We know that being able to be yourself can have a huge impact on your wellbeing, confidence and mental health.

School nursing is here to provide a supportive, non-judgemental space where young people can talk openly and access the help they need.

To all LGBTQ+ young people, families, colleagues, and friends in our community – we see you, we support you and we celebrate you.

As Mental Health Awareness Week comes to an end, it’s important to remember that looking after our mental health matters all year round 💚

Mental health and wellbeing should be recognised, supported, and talked about every day — not just for one week. Reaching out for support, checking in with others, and taking time to care for yourself can make a real difference.

Students can speak to their school to find out when their School Nurse drop-in sessions are taking place. These sessions run during break and lunch times and do not require a booked appointment.

Alternatively, contact the Herefordshire School Nursing Team for more details on how to refer into our service.
