Long before modern conversations around circadian rhythm, Ayurveda understood that the body is not static across the day.

It changes.

There are times that support movement.
Times that support digestion.
Times that support slowing down.

This is one reason Ayurveda places so much value on rhythm.

Not rigid routine for its own sake.
But a way of living that works with the body rather than against it.

We often notice the cost of lost rhythm in simple ways:

feeling wired late at night
eating at odd times
pushing past tiredness
struggling to feel fully rested

The answer is not perfection.

It is often a gradual return to a more natural relationship with time, food, rest and daily life.

At Plantation Villa, this understanding quietly shapes the retreat experience, from the pace of the day to treatment, nourishment and rest.

Which part of your daily rhythm feels most out of sync at the moment: sleep, meals, energy, or rest?

Sometimes, questioning where we are is the first step towards discovering where we are meant to go.

A Quiet Heart follows the deeply personal journey behind Plantation Villa, as Ishara De Silva reaches a turning point that begins a search for greater meaning, healing and a different way of living.

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Peter Webber, the film has been featured at FEST – New Directors | New Films Festival 2026 and named a Finalist at the Creative Chakra Film Festival 2026.

We continue to share moments from a journey that began with searching, and gradually opened the door to something new.

We are often taught to value consistency in one very narrow way.

The same focus.
The same pace.
The same productivity.
From morning to night.

But the body does not move like that.

Energy changes through the day. Attention shifts. Digestion rises and falls. The mind has clearer hours and quieter ones.

This is not weakness.
It is rhythm.

Part of wellbeing is learning to stop treating every dip in energy as a problem to conquer.

Sometimes the wiser question is not,
How do I push through this?

It is,
What is this moment asking of me?

At Plantation Villa, we often see what happens when people are given enough space to stop overriding themselves.

The body softens.
The mind settles.
Rhythm returns.

Do you notice a time of day when your body naturally asks for a different pace?

We often think of light as something that simply helps us see.

But your body reads it too.

Light is one of the signals that helps your internal clock understand where you are in the day.

Morning light says:

It is daytime.
Wake.
Become alert.
Begin.

And later, the contrast between daylight and darkness helps the body recognise when it is time to slow down again.

It is a beautifully simple reminder that our wellbeing is shaped not only by what we do, but also by when we do it.

At Plantation Villa, mornings naturally begin differently.

There is daylight.
Movement.
Fresh air.
Birdsong.
Space before the noise of the day begins.

You do not need an elaborate morning routine.

Sometimes, you simply need to step outside.

When was the last time you experienced the morning before looking at a screen?

Your body is always in conversation with the day.

With light and darkness.
With activity and rest.
With hunger, digestion, breath and energy.

Even when life becomes noisy, rushed or over-scheduled, the body does not stop keeping time.

It still responds.

This month at Plantation Villa UK, we’re exploring the rhythms modern life often asks us to ignore, and what it means to come back into step with ourselves.

Not through pressure.
Not through perfection.
But through noticing.

Because sometimes wellbeing begins with something very simple:

listening.

Where in your life do you feel most out of rhythm right now?

There is a strange contradiction in modern wellbeing.

We are constantly encouraged to work on ourselves, yet human beings have rarely healed entirely by themselves.

Buddhist practice placed great importance on the Sangha, the community surrounding the individual.

Yoga traditionally developed through teacher and student.

Ayurveda was rooted in attentive, personal care.

Modern research continues to explore what these traditions understood intuitively: connection matters.

Sometimes it is easier to slow down when others are slowing down too.

Easier to practise when someone guides you.

Easier to care for yourself when you are in a place designed for exactly that.

That is very much the spirit of Plantation Villa.

If someone you know could use a little space to reset, send this their way.
