Can we talk about no-shows and cancellations for a second?
3 years into the massage/self-employed world and I still feel such heavy guilt every time I have to stand by my cancellation policy
Not because I don’t believe in the policy. I do. But because I know life happens: kids get sick, cars break down, work runs over. I get it, I really do.
Here’s what people don’t always see though: when you book in, that hour is yours. I’ve cleared my diary, prepped the room, turned away someone else who wanted that exact slot.
So when it’s a no-show, it’s not just an empty massage couch, it’s a morning I can’t get back, and often a client on my waitlist who missed out because I held the space for you. Bills unpaid.
The cancellation policy isn’t there to catch anyone out it’s there so I can keep showing up, fully, for everyone who does show up for us 🩷
Most of you are wonderful about this, and I appreciate you more than you know. This one’s just for the days it stings a little.
Anyone else in the industry feel this?
