As children return to school, common conditions such as headlice, ringworm and threadworm can become more common. These conditions can often be safely managed through self-care, with appropriate treatments available to purchase from supermarkets, convenience stores and local pharmacies without a prescription.

In 2025/26, NHS Kent and Medway spent:

£265,000 on ringworm/athlete’s foot treatment
£18,000 on headlice treatment
£2,500 on threadworm treatment
