Ever noticed that your eyes can feel completely different in the morning compared with the evening? Dry eye doesn’t always stay the same throughout the day!

Your eyes have been closed for several hours, and for some people the surface of the eye may feel uncomfortable when first waking.

☀️ During the day
Your eyes are exposed to changing environments, including heating, wind, air conditioning and everyday activities.

🌙 By the evening
Your tear film may have been working hard all day, meaning dryness or discomfort can sometimes become more noticeable later on.

Interestingly, when your eyes feel at their worst can sometimes provide useful clues about what may be contributing to your dry eye.

We now offer affordable, private SLT Laser Treatment.

Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT) is a quick, gentle laser treatment designed to improve the eye’s natural drainage system, helping fluid drain more effectively and lower pressure within the eye. The procedure does not involve cuts or injections and usually takes just a few minutes.

If you would prefer to avoid the waiting times associated with the NHS pathway, you may wish to consider our private treatment option, available directly through our clinic.

👁️💧 YOUR TEARS ARE MORE AMAZING THAN YOU MIGHT THINK!

We all think of tears as something that happens when we’re emotional… but they actually have a very important job to do every single day! 👀

✨ Did you know your tears have three layers?
A healthy tear film is made up of oil, water and mucus, which work together to keep the surface of your eye smooth, comfortable and protected.

💨 And here’s the interesting part…
Your tears can evaporate from the surface of your eyes throughout the day. Things like heating, air conditioning, wind and long periods of screen use can make this happen more quickly.

👀 Blinking is important too!
Every time you blink, you help spread a fresh layer of tears across the surface of your eye — almost like giving your eyes a tiny windscreen-wipe!

👁️💧 COULD YOU HAVE DRY EYE? 💧👁️

Dry eye is a common condition, but did you know that it doesn’t always mean your eyes simply feel “dry”?

Common symptoms can include:
👁 A gritty or sandy feeling
🔥 Burning or stinging
🔴 Red, irritated eyes
💧 Watery eyes
👓 Blurred or fluctuating vision
😴 Tired or uncomfortable eyes
💡 Increased sensitivity to light

If you recognise some of these symptoms, don’t ignore them. Understanding what is causing your symptoms can be the first step towards finding ways to manage them.

✨ DID YOU KNOW?

Watery eyes can be a symptom of dry eye! When the surface of the eye becomes irritated, it can produce extra tears as a natural response.

Screen time can contribute to dry-eye symptoms. When we concentrate on a screen, we often blink less frequently, which can cause the surface of the eye to become dry.

Your environment can make a difference. Air conditioning, heating, wind and low humidity can all contribute to eye discomfort.

Dry eye symptoms can vary from person to person. Some people may experience only mild irritation, while others can have persistent discomfort that affects their everyday life.

If you regularly experience dry, gritty, sore, irritated or watery eyes, you don’t have to put up with it.
