Every year the same pair of Beach Chickens lay eggs in the nest they set up on our roof.

And every year it fails. Over the years the eggs have rolled off the roof, fallen prey to the other critters that occasionally appear in our yard or simply blown off due to the strong weather.

We were surprised the see two pairs of beady eyes staring at us one morning. Its been two weeks now and they're getting bigger. The sole parent that guards them usually just looks at us.

A lesson.

'If at first you don't succeed ...'

Hope they make it.

It was in the news yesterday (Independent and BBC) that an advertisement on the telly promoting a purely cremation service has been found to be misleading by the advertising standards authority.

Direct Cremations are also offered by ALL independant funeral directors. Often with a more personal touch and at a cost far less than whats advertised on the telly.

We do not have the aggressiveness nor the budget that some of these companies have. What we do have is a genuine concern for the families involved to have a proper closure when facing with a loss of loved one. After all, you lot are friends and family to us.

Some funeral directors, like us for instance, do offer chapel visits, dressing of the loved one as well as the service of playing the loved one's favourite piece of music when the day comes. This is done even if its a direct cremation.

So, before you consider any of these TV adverts, do look at what they entail and please do speak to your local funeral director as to what they can offer.
