NEVER cut out entire foods groups.

Your body needs them all or will over compensate for being deprived.

Correct food pairing is a key foundation to balanced nutrition.

Knowing macro portions is vital to compound that balance.

Wholefoods instead of UPFs is non negotiable.

Movement is required to burn fuel and bring energy to the muscles.

If you’re trying to improve your blood sugar and lose weight some of the “healthy” diet advice you’ve been given could actually be making things harder. 👀

Here are a few common mistakes I see women 40+ making:

❌ Skipping meals — then getting ravenous and reaching for quick unbalanced snacks

❌ Cutting out carbs completely — carbs aren’t the enemy. It’s about the type, portion, and what you pair them with.

❌ Choosing flavoured “low-fat” everything — which can sometimes mean more added sugar or leaving you hungry again soon after.

❌ Living on shakes and smoothies, or “healthy” snacks — liquid or highly processed foods - can make it surprisingly easy to consume a lot of loaded carbohydrates without feeling satisfied.

❌ Thinking weight loss means eating as little as possible — your goal should be creating sustainable habits, not surviving on willpower.

Your blood sugar doesn’t need another restrictive diet.

It needs consistency, balanced meals, enough protein and fibre, and a way of eating that actually fits your life. ❤️

And if you’re over 40 and feel like your body suddenly doesn’t respond to food the way it used to… you’re not imagining it.

Comment BALANCE, and I'll send you a healthy stating guide.

Why do we need a permission slip sometimes?

⏯️Permission to feel good in your clothes.
⏯️Permission to not care what others think.
⏯️Permission to slow down.
⏯️Permission to rest without feeling guilty.
⏯️Permission to put ourselves first.
⏯️Permission to say NO without explaining.
⏯️Permission to eat nourishing food.
⏯️Permission to wine or not to wine.
⏯️Permission to exercise because you want to.
⏯️Permission to stop chasing perfection.

Permission to boss it and be the leading lady in your life! 💃

Wellbeing isn't just about what the scales say.
It’s about your energy.🤸

🥑Your relationship with food.
😴Your sleep.
🤯Your stress.
💪Your confidence.
🧐Your mindset.

And how you actually feel in your own body.🤾‍♀️

For so many women over 40, we've spent years looking after everyone else… 🤹

And somewhere along the way, we forgot that we deserve looking after, too. 🤗

So here's your reminder sent with a hug!

You don't need anyone's permission to make yourself a priority.🤗
You’re not being selfish.🫶
You’re taking care of you. 🌿

👇🏼 What do you need to give yourself permission for today?

Nutrition treats the body as one connected system. I know this to be true because I had to learn this to put my type 2 diabetes into long-term remission & lose 40 lbs. I then used this knowledge to become a qualified nutrition coach now teaching it every day. 👩‍💻

Learning the core pillars unlocks freedom of choice! ✅️

QUESTION - Stay stuck or move forward. ⁉️

Instead of obsessing over calories alone, the body treats food quality, stress, sleep, gut health, and hormones as equally important drivers for lasting healthy blood glucose control and sustainable weight loss.

Those core principles are:

1. Every bite signals your cells what to do.

2. Hormonal balance is the foundation of lasting fat loss.

3. Inflammation, not just calories, drives weight gain.

4. Mindset and habits decide whether results last a lifetime.

5. The goal isn't perfection. It's consistency that produces lasting results.

Having a step by step plan of action provides clarity, calm knowledge, and builds small healthy habits as you travel through your health and well-being journey. Plus, it gives you room to breathe and have freedom of choice! 🫶👸

I remember the sigh of relief when the safety net was put in place for me, realising that I would no longer be running around like a crazy lady trying to figure out what to do. 🤯😶‍🌫️

There is nothing worse than feeling like you are falling without a supportive safety net.

You don't have to! 🥰

The blood sugar rollercoaster changed the way I look at food. 🎢

And honestly… I wish I’d known sooner to stop the frustration and anxiety when I was on my weight loss & blood sugar journey when I hit menopause.

For so many women over 40, it’s not simply about “eating too much” or “having no willpower.""”

You eat something that sends your blood sugar up quickly.

Then it drops.
And suddenly you’re:
➡️ Tired
➡️ Craving something sweet
➡️ Hunting for a snack
➡️ Irritable or foggy
➡️ Thinking about food AGAIN

And let's not talk about feelings:
➡️Frustrated with yourself
➡️Resentful that nothing works
➡️Low self-esteem
➡️Miserable in your clothes
➡️Full of self-doubt

YOU END UP WASHED OUT - FEELING PRETTY BLOODY CRAP!😢

So you grab something to give yourself a quick boost…🍫 …and the rollercoaster starts all over again. 🎢

This is one reason I don't believe women should be told to simply “eat less and move more.”

Your food choices, meal balance, activity, sleep, and stress can all influence blood sugar — and understanding that can completely change how you approach weight loss and blood sugar management.

For me, the biggest shift is this:
Stop fighting your body. Start understanding it.

By looking at yourself as a whole unique bundle of awesomeness, clarity will come to clear the fog 😶‍🌫️, sorting things step by step, bringing calm ! 🧘‍♀️

You don't need to be perfect to get results. 💪
You don't need to fear carbohydrates.👀
And you certainly don't need another miserable diet.🥗

You need to understand what works for you and build simple habits you can actually live with. ❤️

If you're over 40 and constantly riding the blood sugar rollercoaster, comment 🎢 below, and I'll share one simple place to start.

Could your body be giving you clues about pre-diabetes? 👀

Pre-diabetes often has no obvious symptoms, which is why it can be so easy to miss.

Are you noticing things such as:
1️⃣ Feeling unusually tired
2️⃣ Feeling very thirsty
3️⃣ Needing to urinate more often
4️⃣ Feeling hungry soon after eating
5️⃣ Changes in weight that you can't easily explain

⚠️ These symptoms can have many different causes, so they don't automatically mean you have pre-diabetes.

The only way to know is through appropriate blood glucose testing with your healthcare professional.

If you're over 30, struggling with your weight, energy, or blood sugar, don't wait until you're told there's a problem.

Small, consistent changes to your food, movement and lifestyle can make a difference. 💚

“Smoothies are healthy… right?” 👀

Not always!

As a nutrition coach, a long-term remission type 2 diabetic, I like to keep things simple and balanced, so I really want you to know this.

I know how easy it is to think you’re doing the “right thing” — throw in some fruit, maybe some juice, yoghurt plus a few extras into a blender, thinking, “At least I’m having something healthy.” 💚 Believe me, I've done the blitz work! 🤦‍♀️

But here’s the bit nobody talks about… 🙊

If not macro balanced, a smoothie very quickly becomes a glass full of sugar and loaded calories without keeping you feeling satisfied for very long.
This is because as soon as fruit is blitzed, juiced, puree, it becomes intensified sugar without the fibre.

When natural sugars are food paired with protein, healthy fats, and fibre, it slows absorption, preventing fewer spikes and sugar crashes. The liver is not then overloaded with fructose and less likely to turn the natural sugars into fat.

If you are trying to lose weight or managing your blood sugar, this matters to your progress.

It’s not that fruit is “bad” but food pairing it will work in your favour!

It’s not that you have to give up smoothies.
And it definitely isn’t about restricting everything you enjoy.

It’s about what you put in a smoothie, how much you’re having, and what your body actually needs.

This is exactly why I don't believe in telling you to simply “eat less” or follow another restrictive diet.

I want you to understand your food.
I want you to feel confident making your choices.
I want you to be able to enjoy food without feeling guilty afterwards. ❤️

Your nutrition should fit your life & health goals, not the other way around.

👇🏼 So....have you been told that smoothies are healthy food and great meal replacements. I’d love to know.

Comment SMOOTHIE for a formula that will enhance your dietary needs, not hinder them!
