Tell someone you're a podiatrist or an orthotist, and the next question is often "so what is that, exactly?"

Recently, BAPO took prosthetics and orthotics into a primary school careers event. When the children were asked who knew what an orthotist was, only a few hands went up.

So we'd like to hear how you found your way in. Was it a placement, an injury of your own, someone in the family, a teacher, or pure chance?

Before you try a new orthotics supplier, you want to know exactly what ordering involves. Here it is for Anthropods® orthoses, in seven slides.

Register, and we verify your HCPC registration, usually within one working day. Start with Patient-Ready, and if it doesn't suit the patient, order Patient-Specific with a 3D scan or a foam impression box.

Grinding a heel post in clinic is a messy job. There's dust everywhere, and the device rarely looks as neat afterwards as it did when it arrived.

In this clip, Jon, our founder, swaps a Quick Heel™ heel post on an Anthropods® orthosis. The posts slide and lock into a mechanism hidden in the heel platform, and they run from 0 to 8° varus/valgus with 3 to 5 mm raises. Keep a range in clinic and change the post during the appointment. No grinding, no ad-hoc wedging and no workshop tools. No lab turnaround.

Orthosis of the Day: Anthropods® Patient-Specific Combo

Great example of when a patient-specific orthosis makes all the difference.

This patient had a chronic right ATFL tear with an associated dropped navicular. Ankle instability often changes how load moves through the rest of the foot, so we built this as a combination order:

🦶 Left: Classic shell
🦶 Right: Medial support shell, for the arch loading from the dropped navicular
⚙️ Metatarsal domes on both
📐 Neutral rearfoot posting on both

Each shell is engineered to the individual foot, so the clinician can prescribe asymmetrically where the biomechanics call for it.
