I’m genuinely overwhelmed and incredibly proud of myself.

Being a midwife isn’t just my job, it’s a huge part of who I am. To have my passion for advocating for women and their babies, speaking up, challenging the system, and pushing for positive change recognised and celebrated means more than I can put into words.

Winning Midwife of the Year for the entire Royal Free Trust is such an honour. I’m so grateful, I truly feel like I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. 💫

It’s frightening to see how many people are swallowing headlines and soundbites without thinking critically. Fear spreads fast - and right now we’re seeing that fear twisted into racism and Islamophobia.

Refugees are not to blame for the state of the UK. They are human beings seeking safety. The anger we feel about long NHS waits, housing shortages, and the cost of living should be directed at government failures and inequality, not at vulnerable people in boats.

Islamophobia and scapegoating divide us - and while we’re fighting one another, the real issues go unchallenged.

👉 Let’s replace fear with facts, and division with compassion.

I did four shifts for Aptaclub in Tesco – not because I supported it, but because I needed to see it for myself. I went in with questions, and I left with more. What I saw confirmed everything that didn’t sit right with me: blurred lines between support and marketing, branded advice where there should be impartiality.

I raised my concerns directly. I reached out to and shared what I’d experienced. I knew parents deserved better. That’s why I spoke to the journalists behind this BMJ investigation.

This isn’t about blame. It’s about transparency, ethics, and protecting infant feeding from commercial influence.
