How has your August been?

Ours has been… busy! 😂

Sometimes you don’t realise quite how much has happened until you stop and look back through the photos.
August at Humber Wellbeing Services has included:

Keeping the Humber Wellbeing Hub open 7 days a week, providing somewhere people can simply walk through the door, be welcomed, have a cuppa, talk, join in or just not be alone.

Working with some brilliant young people and local talent as preparations continue for our Festival of Hope — including rehearsals, music and lots of plans beginning to come together.

Getting out into the community, attending events, talking about su***de prevention and wellbeing, and probably wrestling with that enormous purple gazebo more times than I care to remember!

Being one of the beneficiaries of a fantastic local event raising funds for Humber Rescue and Humber Wellbeing Hub.

Receiving a very welcome £500 donation from the Ford Taunus Club GB — every pound genuinely helps us keep the Hub doing what it does.

Watching our message board fill with little messages from people to complete strangers: you matter, keep going, you are enough, ask for help. Sometimes the simplest things are incredibly powerful.
🌱 Continuing the everyday work that doesn’t always make social media — welcome conversations, 1:1 support, groups, listening, safeguarding, supervision, paperwork, planning and supporting people through some very difficult days.

And behind the scenes, we’ve been preparing for the Festival of Hope on 12th & 13th September. Performers, activities, stalls, partners, volunteers and approximately 6,742 last-minute ideas are now being pulled together!
And actually, August has brought a few pretty exciting surprises too...
I can’t tell you everything just yet, but there’s lots happening behind the scenes and some really positive developments for Humber Wellbeing Services.
Keep your eyes peeled. 👀

So… how has your August been?
And if yours has simply been about getting through it — that counts too.

A good team changes everything.

When you work in su***de prevention and emotional wellbeing, the work can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be demanding.

I’m very lucky to have people around me who care deeply about what we do, who bring different strengths, challenge each other, laugh together, step in when someone needs help and, most importantly, never lose sight of the people who walk through our doors.

A strong team isn’t about everyone being the same. It’s about trust. It’s knowing who will pick something up when you’re juggling too much, who will ask the difficult question, who will bring the energy when yours is running low, and who will remind you why you started in the first place.

And, of course, every good team needs a Coco. 🐾

Our very unofficial wellbeing team member, professional cuddle-giver and expert at knowing exactly who might need a little extra love. Coco doesn’t care about job titles, targets or meetings. She simply makes her way over, sits beside someone and does what she does best.

Sometimes support is a conversation.

Sometimes it’s someone quietly being there.

And sometimes it’s a little brown dog climbing onto your knee for a cuddle. ❤️

Very grateful for this lot — humans and canine included.

A HUGE THANK YOU

We are incredibly proud and grateful to have received an award from Emma Hardy MP

It means so much to us to have the work of Humber Wellbeing Hub recognised, particularly the work we do within our community around su***de prevention and self-harm support.

This award is not just for us – it is for our amazing volunteers, staff, supporters, partners and, most importantly, every single person who walks through our doors and helps make our hub such a special place.

We are passionate about the work we do and the community around us. We are all about bringing people together, reducing isolation and ensuring that everyone has a safe and welcoming space to turn to.

Thank you, Emma Hardy MP for this lovely recognition. We are so proud!🏆
