Liam from LS Plumbing & Heating Services very kindly fitted an outside tap for us at the hub last week! We got him some small treats to say thank you ๐Ÿ’›
As a bonus for us dog lovers, Liam brought his spaniel Rolo along with him. Rolo was very excited to explore the hub! We'll be adding his picture to our Paw-trait gallery.

Living Well Coordinator Kirsty is taking part in the Great North Run this month in aid of local charity Wecan.

Kirsty says:
"13.1 milesโ€ฆ what was I thinking?! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

Iโ€™ve always loved exercise and keeping moving, but running has NEVER come naturally to me, however, after doing the Great North Run twice before I seem to get fear of missing out when I don't do it!

This year I decided to take on the Great North Run 2026 to raise money for WECAN, an incredible charity that supports families and individuals with disabilities and complex needs.

And Iโ€™m doing it for one very special little boy called Harry, who's a friend of mine. Harry is one of the happiest, most smiley little boys you could ever meet.

Although heโ€™s non-verbal, he brings so much joy wherever he goes. Running for such an amazing cause and such a wonderful little boy has made me so much more accountable โ€” not just to myself, but to Harry too.

I got my dad involved with the training planโ€ฆ and heโ€™s been running alongside me, although running may be a generous description for him - more like walking, hopping, skipping and the occasional jog without even breaking a sweat, unlike me!

Less than two weeks to go and Iโ€™m finally feeling ready!"๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

We think you're amazing Kirsty and send you lots of luck for next week ๐Ÿ˜Š

As autumn approaches and with wetter weather on the way, we're getting cosy in the hub. Next week our special craft activity will be cardboard loom weaving. This is a really simple and effective way to create a woollen coaster or bookmark!

There will be homemade seasonal soup from The Hextol Foundation, plus lots of drop-ins, support sessions, or if you choose, a space to just relax with a book from our book corner.

The Adapt Community Hub the ideal place to meet new people, have a coffee with friends, or meet with a colleague. Call in! We're open from 10am - 2pm, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

All week we've been taking photos of dogs visiting the hub, and alongside some of the other much-loved pets belonging to our visitors, we've created our very own Paw-trait Gallery!

๐Ÿพ Our tribute to dogs (and cats!) was inspired by on 26 August, and we'll keep adding to the gallery over the next few weeks.

Bring your dog along, or bring in a photo of your pet for the gallery, and they can add a little more joy to the hub too!
