📢 Important Update: How We Contact Patients

We are changing the way we communicate with patients and manage online consultation requests.

At the moment, we use PATCHS for online patient requests and a separate system for sending messages. These will now be combined into one new system called AccuRx.

From now on, any messages you receive from us may look different. To keep your information secure, you may be asked to confirm your identity by entering your date of birth before you can open any documents we send.

🔒 Please be reassured that these links are genuine and safe.

📱 It’s very important that we have your most up-to-date contact details so we can continue to reach you without delay.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

📱 Useful Updates for the NHS App
The NHS App has had a major refresh and is now available with its new look for 100% of users!
Here are some of the latest improvements designed to make managing your healthcare easier:
✅ Appointments all in one place
Appointment information, consultation notes, events, and updates are now grouped together under the Appointments section, making it easier to find what you need.
✅ Contact your GP without booking an appointment
Under Book an appointment, you can now use Ask about a health problem to contact your GP practice about a health concern without needing to book an appointment.
✅ New NHS App guides and videos
Updated step-by-step guides and walk-through videos are available to help patients download and use the NHS App. These cover key services such as prescriptions and appointments and include captions and British Sign Language support.
🏥 Hospital appointments now available in the NHS App
Patients at every NHS trust in England can now view referrals and hospital appointments through the NHS App. Many patients can also reschedule or cancel appointments directly through the App, helping to reduce missed appointments and making healthcare more convenient.
📨 Digital-first NHS screening invitations
NHS screening programmes are increasingly using the NHS App to send invitations and updates. Cervical screening communications are now digital-first, with bowel cancer screening following for many patients. If digital communication isn't possible, a paper letter will still be sent.
🔔 To make the most of these services, download the NHS App and switch on notifications to receive important updates, appointments, and screening invitations quickly and securely.

🌸 New NHS Online Self‑Assessment Tool 🌸
The NHS has launched a new online self-assessment tool for women who experience a bleed or spotting they’ve been through the menopause and who are not on HRT.
📍 It's for women in Bury, Salford, Oldham, Heywood, Middleton, and Rochdale.
⚠️ Any bleeding from your va**na after the menopause (when your periods have been stopped for 12 months or more) should be checked out to rule out possible womb cancer.
💻 You can now do this without booking an appointment with a GP.
✅ Simply answer a few questions on the online self-assessment tool to request a hospital check.

💚 Mental Health Awareness Week | 11–17 May 💚
This week, we join the NHS in recognising that mental health is just as important as physical health.
Mental Health Awareness Week is a chance to:
✅ Talk openly about mental wellbeing
✅ Check in with friends, family, and colleagues
✅ Reduce stigma
✅ Remind ourselves that support is always available
If you or someone you know is struggling, help is there — you don’t have to face things alone.
📞 Support is available:

Urgent mental health support: Call NHS 111 (24/7) to be directed to your local NHS mental health crisis line
Samaritans: 116 123 (free, 24/7) – for anyone feeling overwhelmed or in distress
Emergency support: Call 999 or go to A&E if you or someone else is in immediate danger

Reaching out is a sign of strength. Let’s continue to look after each other and be kind to our minds. 💚
