Please read & spread the ADHD IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM word. I’m trying hard in the latest ‘That’s Life True Crime Magazine’ raising CJS ADHD awareness wherever I possibly can 💙

There is a scandalous amount of ADHD in prisons, lives are being destroyed and lost because of this and I am determined the situation will change 💙

And this will be the start of them freeing themselves of the criminal justice system.

Was given these yesterday by an ADHD IPP prisoner at HMP Warren Hill.

Not sure if it was more difficult to make them or to get them to me! Eventually it was handed to me in a big plastic sack in the visit hall, but I could only open it once I had left the building.

Luckily I'm seeing him again today so I can thank him in person

I was the expert ADHD witness at his parole board recently and this is the thank you 🌠🌠 he was given D Cat

We won't rest until they are all out 🌠

A little article I've had published today in INSIDE TIME. I had 200 words to put in that sidebar to explain ADHD to the prison population 💙

I truly hope I've got the message through.

One of my recently diagnosed ADHD IPP prisoners has rung tonight to say "Just reading that 200 word sidebar you would know you had ADHD".

My genuine hope is that this will bring realisation to a lot of people who have been misdiagnosed or not diagnosed at all.

And this will be the start of them freeing themselves of the criminal justice system.

I don't cry about losing my young offender Anthony very often anymore, but I did cry today when I was speaking to somebody about him. It will be 3 years in March since he hung himself in HMP Lowdham Grange. It was only at the inquest I realised I had been angry at the wrong people. It wasn't individuals in that prison. It was the whole prison system that didn't understand ADHD as the very serious psychiatric condition it is.

It wasn't until that day I could understand why they had ignored five, lengthy and detailed, safeguarding risk letters I had put in. They just didn't understand how important and life threatening unmedicated ADHD with dysregulated emotions was.

I will never stop fighting to raise ADHD awareness until everybody is being screened in schools from the age of five and right the way through the CJS.

The biggest thanks to Leesa Edwards and all at Cumbria Police who have managed to get ADHD screening embedded in their custodial process.

It's now time for all other UK forces to follow suit!

The numbers are speaking for themselves. It really is around 85% of people being arrested have primarily undiagnosed ADHD.

Cumbria have lodged their protocols and processes with the College of Policing for all forces to take advantage of.

If we want to cut crime, reduce offending, stop wasting millions on new prisons and save the government billions... This is where it all starts.
